  • Family-friendly site in the woods just outside the small town of Chaam
  • Half an hour from Efteling, one of the world's oldest theme parks
  • Two-hectare lake with sandy beach, playground and swimming deck
Choo choo... That’s the sound of RCN Vakantiepark de Flaasbloem’s very own little road train trundling around the site, much to the delight of all sorts of guests from waving toddlers to weary-footed walkers. It’s not the only source of delight around here, of course – both active types and serenity seekers are well catered for at this family-friendly site just outside the small Brabant town of Chaam. Those in search of a peaceful place to unwind will be chuffed too with the woodland setting, all pine-scented air and glimpses of passing squirrels and birds. Also getting a thumbs-up from guests is the two-hectare swimming lake, for hours of swimming, whizzing down the waterslides and clambering at the play area, while quieter types relax on the sandy beach or settle down with a book on the huge grass sunbathing area. Tinies have their own water play area while competent swimmers over eight can continue their swims at the indoor pool. There’s plenty more for the kids to do around the place – games of tennis, beach volleyball, table tennis and pétanque, perhaps, or climbing fun at the playground. And that’s if they haven’t been swallowed up into one of the kids’ club activities and all manner of malarkey including crafts, games and dancing. For eats, the restaurant is on hand all day; DIY chefs can light up a barbie, and you can kickstart your morning with a cracking breakfast of fresh pastries from the croissanterie.

What customers say

Good upkeep & clean site with great facilities: lake slides, pool, bike hire. Spacious pitches amid greenery, near trails. Friendly, helpful staff. Families love it, though some noted noise, WiFi issues, and common area cleaning needs. Shop/takeaway pricey for some.

Powered grass tent, caravan or trailer tent site

Liked Lots to do for the kids, helpful friendly staff who spoke very good english. Shop for essentials as well as bar, restaurant and snack shack.
Near to local shops and supermarkets with lovely surroundings areas.
Free WiFi was very good.

Disliked Shower block was huge and modern but the cleaning times are awful. I waited as they were locked due to cleaning and were still closed almost 2 hours later with no staff inside. Very big site and very few other options if closest is shut.

Lake was beautiful and kids loved it however id be interested in seeing some sort of water test as 3 people in the group ended up unwell after swimming.
If you travel with another group you can not request to be together via pitchup. We found out the day before we got there and had to pay €30 per tent to be moved as it doesnt say anywhere that this is the case unless you find it on the rcn website itself.

Toilets are quite a distance from pitches.

Pitches we had were covered in dust and sand so it got everywhere. Very little grass on the pitch itself so make sure you have a broom/hoover.

Liked Beautiful site, love the lake and available facilities.
Amazing price for what we got space wise and what's available and location.
Perfect location for efteling and beekse Berger both only 30min away and only 3hrs from Dunkirk ferry port. Already planning to go back.

Disliked No lifeguard in the indoor pool and can be a bit chaotic as kids left to own devices.

Powered forest floor tent site

Liked Toilets and facilities nice and clean
Bike hire (bikes in really good condition!)
Bike trails very close to the campsite which take you all around the region including to nearest city Breda.
Resyaurant, snack bar and pizzeria with prices to suit everyone.
Pitches well spaced with lots of greenery and trees to divide and make it feel nice and quiet (in ‘wilderness camping’ area)
Lots of little play areas
Beautiful forest
Lovely swimming lake with slides
Entertainment for the kids
Indoor pool

Disliked Only thing I disliked was the lack of a life guard in the indoor pool. Things got a bit wild in there!

Powered grass tent, caravan or trailer tent site

Liked Nice big pitches, clean facilities, helpful staff who spoke excellent English, lovely lake with slides.

Disliked The pizzeria and shop closed relatively early (8pm) and was quite pricey with not that great a range and the nearest supermarket was about a 10 minute drive away.

Local attractions

The countryside all around the site is prime territory for cycling – mountain bikers should find plenty of trails in the woods just a couple of minutes’ ride from the park, while those who prefer a flat path can head out to the Bels Lijntje route which runs on the railway line between Turnhout and Tilburg and passes close to the site. Around 40 minutes away is the Biesbosch National Park, a freshwater tidal area with a huge network of creeks and rivers to explore. How you get around is up to you – take your bikes, go for a walk, hire canoes or take a horseback tour – but whatever you choose, keep your eyes open for wildlife including beavers, sea eagles and kingfishers. Kid-friendly attractions in these parts include the The Earth reptile zoo in Breda, 20 minutes away, where crocodiles, lizards and snakes lurk; you can even handle them if you’re feeling brave. If you’re more of a cuddly cuties type, make the 10-minute drive to Stichting de Ezelshoeve donkey shelter, to meet the animals and take them for a walk through the surrounding countryside.
