Lovely spot, close to water, great facilities. Staff are a real asset. Some found touring pitches a bit snug, and noted noise from play areas or residents. A few booking system hiccups and pitch allocation issues were mentioned.

Shepherd's hut

Liked Good instructions for late check in - very smooth. Cabin was warm, clean and comfortable. Had lots of kitchen equipment and some extras eg lamp, clothes dryer, lots of pans. Close to shower/toilet which were private and clean - really nice. Peaceful campsite in a lovely location. Friendly staff- very helpful.

Disliked The door handle was broken. Only shut if you locked it. This was not a big problem.
Previous occupants had not emptied the bin and so the cabin smelled of cigarettes.

Liked Die Lage direkt am Wasser ist sehr schön. Zentral gelegen für tolle Radtouren. Sanitär sauber, Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der Nähe

Liked Die freundlichen Camper. Sonst leider nichts

Disliked Unmöglicher Service. Kein Zugang zu den abgebildeten Stränden. Dann wurde versucht mein Motorrad über Nacht zu stehlen, sowie Boote, Fahrräder, Bootstrailer. Das Problem ist bekannt, wie wir erfahren haben, aber nicht mal Kameras sind vorhanden. Mein Fahrzeug wurde so beschädigt, dass es nicht mehr nutzbar war. Keine Hilfe der Inhaber

Liked Location was good, situated on inland waterway.

Disliked This in our view is not a site for touring motorhomes. Very limited pitches. On the pitch we had I had to climb up a ladder to plug into the electric.
The site has numerous nice looking chalets and seasonal/ long term caravans.

Disliked Fast nur Festcamper die über die Woche kaum da sind.
Abwaschmoöglichkeiten für Camer sind nicht optimal.

Liked Very clean and well equipped site. Excellent facilities. Friendly and helpful staff.

Disliked Touring pitches situated right next to pool and childrens play area so quite noisy.

Disliked De communicatie tussen jullie en Marinapark is een ramp. Iedere keer uitleggen dat ik via jullie heb geboekt, doe ik overigens ook nooit meer.
Het is een afschuwelijke locatie als je een fatsoenlijke nachtrust wil. Vaste bewoners die tot diep in de nacht harde muziek draaien en meezingen. Te belachelijk voor woorden. Daarbij wordt er altijd gefeest op het eiland van Maurik. De vaste bewoners bepalen alles. Ik had geboekt met stroom hadden we ook niet. We hadden voor 2 nachten geboekt en zijn na de 1e nacht gevlucht. Op het park verhuren ze ook huisjes, ik had mijn haren uit m’n kop getrokken als ik daar voor 2 nachten €500 had betaald. Ik heb wel weer een goed verhaal voor op verjaardagen.

Liked Location is excellent on sea front. It’s geared toward extra large tents, caravans and motor homes some look like permanent pitches. These seem to have priority over tourers.

Disliked Booked in advance but someone was in my booking so given another plot for 3 nights. On the 3rd night they put someone else on my site pushed my things to the side. This person had booked in advance, their plot was taken so they took mine. Crazy management. Offered me a plot behind someone else without the fascilities paid for. No apologies. Staff didn’t point out electrics. No other language alternative information offered so no information gained?

Bike, boat or boots are all equally excellent ways to explore this part of the world – whichever method you choose, you should find plenty of gorgeous views out along the river or up in the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park. Meanwhile, if you like your wildlife a little more exotic, you’ll need to head to Ouwehands Dierenpark (20 minutes’ drive), where you can see lions, pandas and other creatures from around the world. Sticking to classic Dutch scenery for now? Try a trip to Buren (15 minutes) or Wijk bij Duurstede (half an hour) or spend some time exploring the 17th-century manor house and landscaped gardens at Amerongen Castle (25 minutes). The fabulous city of Utrecht (35 minutes) should certainly be on your radar too – a day over there can be spent visiting the Miffy Museum and Museum Speelklok, taking an underground tour at DOMUnder or heading a little way out of town to the incredible Castle De Haar. It’s worth leaving a bit of time to explore the canals too, perhaps on a cruise or a rowing boat/canoe tour with a couple of stops at waterside cafés and restaurants along the way.
