  • Pet-friendly site in the Veluwe region, set among woodland
  • Public pool less than a kilometre away
  • Local cycling trails to quarries, small villages and scenic meadows
There's bike hire at this Netherlands site – but of course... Which is a mighty handy thing, for Camping de Rimboe is in the Veluwe region, the greenly peaceful and quietly popular landscapes in the Gelderland province made up of landscapes like woodland, heath and Europe's biggest sand drifts, and home to travel list tickboxes like the Hoge Veluwe National Park and the famed Kröller-Müller art museum. Get on your bike to pedal local trails around quarries, small villages and scenic meadows, or take to the countryside by foot instead, as dog-friendly Camping de Rimboe is used as a base by ramblers as well as cyclists. The site has unfussy but modern facilities, including a pétanque court, a TV room and a communal hall; the up to date amenities blocks come with hot showers, a washing-up area and a laundry room. Camping de Rimboe is 900 metres from a public pool.

Powered grass site

Liked A great welcome when we arrived. This is a very simple campground but with excellent facilities. Good, powerful showers and the best WiFi we’ve experienced. Also spotlessly clean and well cared for. Very peaceful. We absolutely loved it!

Local attractions

Ask the Camping de Rimboe team for its many top tips on the best places to ride your bike around the forests, meadows, villages and small lakes of the region as well as to its attractions: the Veluwe has four zoos, the National Sports Centre Papendal and over 50 museums. Probably the most famed museum in the region is the Kröller Müller, the national art museum of the Netherlands and known for its vast Van Gogh collection (the second biggest in the world, after the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam). The museum is set among the scenic landscape of the Hoge Veluwe National Park, another top option for a day out and an envy-inducing photo opp. Also recommended by the team are the Luntersch Tower for spectacular views of the Veluwe valley (more photo opps here); the 17th-century palace, garden and art collection of Het Loo Palace, and the Netherlands Open Air Museum, with antique houses, farms and factories from different parts of the country. For family days out, try the Royal Burgers' Zoo, Ouwehands Dierenpark zoo and the Dutch Poultry Museum.
