  • Quiet site in the countryside between Padua and Vicenza
  • Verona and Venice within an hour's drive for day trips
  • Two fishing ponds on site stocked with carp, bass and sturgeon
Looking for a holiday spot that’s got equally easy access to town time and rural activities? Laghetto Cà Brusà is in an enviable location in between Padua and Vincenza (and about 25 minutes’ drive from both) and surrounded by gorgeous natural countryside. The Treviso Ostiglia cycle path runs past the site for an easy way to get out and see the scenery – it’s been created from an old railway line so it’s fairly flat and easy to follow, and the paved surface makes it suitable for families and leisure cyclists too. For more time spent out in the open air you need simply find a spot at one of the site’s own fishing ponds. They’re stocked with all sorts of big beasts, including black bass, striped bass, carp up to 22kg and sturgeon up to 30kg. There’s a catch-and-release policy in place at the ponds so that everyone can have a go. Also on site for guests are a play area, a communal barbecue, a covered outdoor dining space, a washing-up area and a dog walk area where your canine chums can have a run about. The bathroom block has toilets and hot showers that are modern in style and well kept. For eating out, there are several restaurants within a short drive of the site, and the local town of Camisano Vicentino (five minutes’ drive) has shops, supermarkets and places to eat, plus a Sunday market that’s a good bet for ingredients for meals and picnics back at base.

Orzo powered grass and gravel caravan site

Liked: Really peaceful and agreeable atmosphere. The trees were lovely. We enjoyed being by the lake and the views. The Site Manager was very welcoming and helpful to us. I found it easy to control the water temperature of the shower.

Disliked: When the light went out in the shower, I could not get it to come back on, even when I waved my arms. (It was on a sensor). The light did come back on when I opened the shower door. I would have preferred more paving around the motorhome service area. Improvement to the method of emptying chemical toilet would be appreciated.

Liked: Szép környezet, kedves és segítőkész személyzet.

Disliked: Nem találtunk a helyszínen kukát, a szemetünket a tartózkodás után magunkkal kellett vinni és később kidobni.

Trifoglio unpowered grass and gravel site

Liked: Rural and very quiet. On arrival you call the phone number on the gate to obtain access, the owners come later to book you in and get the gate code. Large shaded area with long tables and benches are very useful and a joy to sit at after camping stools! There is a communal fridge and Freezer which we found incredibly useful. The shower, toilets and washing up area are good quality with toilet paper, floor mats and towels. We enjoyed the fact this place was well out of the way and quiet, we bought some of the owner’s honey which was very nice. Camping pitches are very free and you can choose your site to suit you, we had two small tents and there was also plenty of room for campervans with a few electric hook ups. The site is on the side of two man made fishing lakes, over the weekend quite a few people fish around the lakes but they are very spread out and we only saw them arrive and leave. On the weekday we were there hardly any people were fishing, if any. There is a ping pong table and table football machine, along with a box of games - all free to use and a welcome distraction for our own children. We used this site to get the train into Venice for day trips, the station is 2.5km away.

Disliked: Bring mosquito coils and spray, the lovely lake attracts these creatures too, but the coils worked well and kept them away from us. There are no bin facilities on the campsite due to the fact that previous clients have not sorted the recycling properly. We did not find this a problem and took our rubbish to the town each day. We only mention it so that you are prepared to do similar. The site is very rural with signage for the last kilometre or so, only. We found it on our second attempt with the sat nav.

Local attractions

If you’re after rural walks, you can head out on the pathways just by the site, or take a trip to Parco Regionale dei Colli Euganei (half an hour’s drive) for more extensive hiking trails. Meanwhile, if you like to finish your walks or bike rides with a dip in cool water, plan something in the area around Lago di Camazzole (25 minutes), which has a lovely lake beach – and a horse riding centre if you’d rather tour that way. For some other intriguing sights as you stroll, head to Grotta Di San Bernardino (half an hour), where a hike of a couple of hours leads to the oldest archaeological site in the Vicenza area, or do a circuit of the medieval walls of Cittadella (half an hour). There are some fabulous towns and cities worth visiting nearby, too – Padua and Vicenza are both about 25 minutes’ drive away, or you can take day trips to Venice (45 minutes) or Verona (50 minutes).
