So, some part of you wants to escape to the woods to live wild and free… while the other part is pretty fond of living a comfortable life? The answer lies in a stay at Abete Bianco, in the Molise countryside just outside the village of Pescopennataro (a kilometre away and accessible on foot or by bike). Tucked away in natural woodlands well away from the usual tourist centres, this quiet little site is one of those places that manages to combine the serene atmosphere of a wild and remote stay with some top-notch facilities for a comfortable stay. That means you can really embrace the spirit of outdoor living while you’re here – taking in the scent of the forest, listening to birdsong and watching the sunrise, sunset and stars in peace. But you can also take a proper shower, use a proper toilet, wash your clothes and fill up with fresh drinking water. A barbecue area and picnic tables are provided for those who’d like to complement their outdoor lifestyle with some alfresco cooking and eating. But there’s also the option of the site’s cosy restaurant, which serves up a tempting menu of authentic local dishes.

Liked Extrêmement bien reçus, l’endroit est exceptionnel. Lorsque nous sommes arrivés nous pensions que le restaurant était ouvert pour le soir ce qui n’était pas le cas, elle nous a malgré tout fait deux délicieuses pinas. Les sanitaires étaient très propres. Arrêtez vous y impérativement si vous êtes dans le coin.

Liked Un campeggio immerso nel verde di un bosco, facilmente raggiungibile, con piazzole ampie sotto l'ombra degli alberi e possibilità di colonnine per la corrente. La cordialità e disponibilità di chi gestisce il posto permette di vivere un'esperienza di campeggio davvero gratificante. È presente anche un ristorante attivo a pranzo, che per cena garantisce la possibilità di asporto per gli ospiti. I bagni sono piuttosto efficienti e puliti. Un luogo adatto a rilassarsi, ma anche punto di partenza per escursioni nel bosco di abeti e nel territorio circostante.

This isn’t the place for you if you want to take in lots of tourist sights during your holiday. But if you’re in the market for outdoor activities among scenic and little-visited landscapes, you’ll be in your element.
