  • Riccione site over the road from a long, sandy Adriatic coast beach
  • Waterparks, animal park and watersports within a couple of kilometres
  • Kids' activities and family entertainment on site in summer
Roam around Riccione when not resting at Romagna Camping Village, an Emilia-Romagna site just over the road from the long sandy beach in a smashing seaside town. The park’s well placed for making the most of the resort’s activities, restaurants, shops and nightlife, and has a cracking collection of its own facilities in the grounds. Along with a beach volleyball court and a playground, a barbecue area is here for cooking over coals and for lazier sorts the restaurant serves up cuisine from all around Romagna. Sit down for a woodfired pizza in front of the plasma TV and have entertainment as you eat or head outside onto the terrace overlooking the beach to dine while drinking in the view. Come along in summer and a buzzing programme of kids’ activities is laid on around the site and at the beach too, followed by evening entertainment at the theatre. Dogs are just as welcome at the park and can use the exercise area for a good runabout followed by a hose-down with the hand shower. If pet parents want to get wet as well, watersports and waterparks are all around the resort area, along with dry-land activities like miniature golf and a wildlife park (plus beaches of course) to suit folk who fancy chilling out. If you’d like to venture further away, the city of Rimini and the hilltop city-state of San Marino are within half an hour’s drive.

Local attractions

Fond of both animals and aquatic activities? Stroll around the Oltremare waterpark and wildlife park (five minutes’ drive). Other ways to drench yourself are available at the Aquafan waterpark (five minutes) and there’s also a watersports centre with paddleboarding, windsurfing and kitesurfing within a 10-minute drive. To immerse yourself in the ocean without needing to shrug on your swimsuit, get over to the Cattolica Aquarium (10 minutes) and have a gander at the maritime creatures, or wander along the sandy beaches of Rimini (25 minutes) in search of a sunbed for soaking up the rays. Thrill-seekers can get their kicks motor racing and go-karting at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli (10 minutes), while more sedate times are to be had at the Castello di Gradara castle (15 minutes), particularly in the evening when the view of the underlying village is especially eye-catching. To cast your gaze upon some ace architecture in a smaller format, idle around the Italia in Miniatura model town, an amusement park with teeny replicas of buildings from across Italy and Europe (25 minutes).
