When you’re touring in a motorhome, sometimes you fancy parking up at a site with lots of facilities, and at other times you’re simply in search of a convenient spot in which to lay your head for a day or two. Wohnmobilstellplatz Fahr'mal Runter is a place that falls into the latter category, with simple hardstanding pitches in the south of Bremen. And a convenient spot it certainly is, just off the A1 motorway and with a retail park a few minutes’ walk away where you can stock up on various bits and pieces at more than 40 shops. It’s a fairly simple setup here, so there are no toilets, showers or drinking water supplies available for guests. You’ll be able to use the wifi and pick up a coffee though, and the place is nice and secure, with a gated entrance, CCTV surveillance and decent lighting. It’s also pretty spacious, so even super-sized motorhomes and caravans can park up with no problems. Families, groups and dogs are all welcome on site, and you can gather at the barbecue/picnic area if you like. If you’re not in too much of a rush to hit the road again, this place makes an excellent base for visiting Bremen – there’s a bus stop just outside, with services that take you into the city centre in about half an hour. Alternatively, you could spend a day walking, cycling, paddleboarding or playing disc golf in the surrounding countryside.

If you’ve only got one day to spare, spend it in Bremen. You can leave your wheels on site and take the bus to reach the city centre, where you can stroll through the Old Town, visit the cathedral, town hall and Mühle am Wall windmill and explore the science exhibits at Universum Bremen. Look out too for the famed statues of the warrior Roland and the Brothers Grimm, spend some time wandering in the heritage-filled Schnoor area and check out the trendy bars and restaurants of the Viertel district. For something a bit different, head to the Kleine Weser and Werdersee (15 minutes’ drive) for swimming, paddleboarding and riverside walks or bike rides. You can also get a bit of competition going at Discgolf Anlage (five minutes) or ride a heritage train at Pingelheini Museumsbahn Bremen-Thedinghausen (10 minutes).
