It's free, quick and easy!
- Lakeside site set in the foothills of the Jura mountains
- Playground, bar, restaurant, fishing, BBQs and huge sunbathing area
- Direct access to a lake beach, lifeguarded in the summer season
If it’s lakeside lounging you crave, make for Camping La Grange Du Pin on the shores of Bief de la Rippe lake. The foothills of the Jura mountains make a most agreeable backdrop to your days, and woods all around the site provide plenty of cool, shaded spots in which to spend your nights.
It’s a very short trot from the pitches to the splendid (and huge) sunbathing area, which has plenty of grass both for sprawling with a book and for kids to run about and play games. Guests can also try their luck with a spot of fishing if they bag the correct licence beforehand.
Should you feel the need for some gentle activity, games of tennis and pétanque await, along with a playground and trampoline for bouncy kids. Hire bikes to pedal off onto the area’s cycle routes, or just head out on foot – there are plenty of quiet roads and paths to explore just around the site (ask at reception for some top tips).
The bar and restaurant are handily located just next to the sunbathing area, with a shaded terrace where you can continue to take in the lake view. Snacks, sandwiches and ice creams keep guests fed during the day, followed by full meals in the evenings, and live music and dancing on Saturday nights in summer.
Communal barbecues are to hand if you’d prefer to cater for yourselves, and the on-site food shop has basic provisions (other bits can be acquired at the supermarket, 10 minutes’ drive away). Fresh bread is available at the site shop on summer weekdays.

Local attractions
Adventure awaits a couple of minutes’ walk from the site, at the Arbres et Sens Aventures park and its eight treetop courses. If you’re after something a little more calming, you can hire a paddleboard from here instead to glide around on the lake.
If your treetop adventure has given you a taste for flying through the skies, notch it up a level with a paragliding flight from the school in Pressiat, a 10-minute drive away. Back down at ground level, there’s a horse riding centre 10 minutes away where you can saddle up for a trek through the beaut scenery of the Jura hills.
Half an hour’s drive takes you to the town of Bourg-en-Bresse, a fab place to wander around. The Gothic Brou Royal Monastery is the big draw, but it’s also worth looking at the cathedral and visiting the apothecary museum as well as poking around in the local shops and market.
