- Quiet family site with spectacular views of Mont Ventoux in the Drôme
- Nyons 10 minutes’ drive, Grignan 20 minutes and Montélimar 50 minutes
- Heated pool and splash fountain; shop, terrace bar and restaurant
If you have a yen for exploring the spectacular Drôme region, its hilltop villages, lavender fields and olive groves, how about doing it from Camping Les Terrasses Provençales? This leafy site sits between the photogenic and historic villages of Nyons and Valréas, and is laid out in terraces with stunning views towards Mont Ventoux.
Everything about the place is thought out to ensure you have a relaxing family holiday. There’s a heated pool (from May 15 onwards), a splash fountain for the kids to run around in and a playground with masses of slides and climbing frames. Anyone looking for a bit of sporting action can get stuck into billiards, ping-pong and pétanque o shire bikes to explore the colourful landscapes of the Drôme Provençale.
Gourmet local produce is sold in the on-site shop, and there’s a bread and pastries delivery service, an all-day snack bar and a slightly more formal restaurant at your disposal. In the evening you can opt (or not, of course) to join in with themed fun ranging from dance night to karaoke and themed dinners.

Local attractions
You may choose to simply soak up the warming Provençal sun, but there is much to see in this corner of the Drôme. You can tour ancient and sun-baked villages like gorgeous Nyons (10 minutes’ drive), Grignan (20 minutes), overlooked by its château and mighty ramparts, and Vaison-la-Romaine (half an hour), which creeps down a steep hill to the Ouvèze River.
Big-hitting attractions in the region include historic Montélimar (50 minutes), as well known for its nougats as for its majestic Romanesque fortress. You can easily spend the day exploring the Pope’s Palace and St Peter’s Basilica in the handsome old town of Avignon (90 minutes).
If you’d rather explore on foot or by bike, there are trails right from the site. Expert cyclists can pedal the challenging trail up Mont Ventoux (about an hour’s drive). However, if that sounds like too much hard work, take the kids to the Crocodile Farm (40 minutes) to watch the crocs being fed, or browse the weekly markets in Nyons (Thursday and Sunday morning) and Valréas (15 minutes, Wednesday and Saturday morning).
