- Peaceful and well-shaded site at the gateway to the Gorges du Verdon
- Six kilometres from Quinson lake and its watersports centre
- Large swimming pool and barbecue area surrounded by mature trees
Right near the jaw-droppingly scenic Gorges du Verdon and 500 metres from the medieval hilltop village of Montmeyan lies Camping Lou Troumpetoun – a small, splendidly shaded and spacious family park among spectacular scenery in the Var department.
This is a highly handsome site filled with flowers and mature trees, close to lakes and rivers: come here to fish, to laze among the willows or to use it as a base for exploring the Gorges du Verdon, the lush Var landscapes and pretty villages within easy driving distance (Esparron-de-Verdon is 25 minutes' drive from the park, and Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, Riez and Gréoux-les-Bains are all within around 35 minutes by car; Troumpetoun is also within 40 or so kilometres from the cities of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, Manosque, Draguignan and Brignoles).
For a coastal day trip, the giltz and glamour of the French Riviera's sandy beaches are within 100 kilometres, with Sainte-Maxime, Fréjus and Cannes within a couple of hours' drive.
Lots of shaded spots, an outdoor pool and a big communal barbecue has your leisure and alfresco eating options sorted, and all the amenities you could ever need are a short walk away in the village.

Local attractions
The five lakes of Esparron, Quinson, Artignosc, Sainte-Croix and Castillon make up the Gorges du Verdon, all providing vastly varied outdoor activities on and around. Whether you fancy soaring above its spectacular landscape with a paragliding flight, birdwatching for black and griffon vultures and other feathery friends, or canoeing the canyons from Quinson lake's watersports centre, there's something to suit all.
Visit Esparron-de-Verdon, which lies 15 minutes' drive away on the edge of a beach-fringed lake at the gateway to the lower Verdon gorges. Stroll around the town and explore its 10th-century castle, or for something a little more thrill-inducing hit up the lake for fishing, canoeing, windsurfing, sailing, rowing and boating. Back on land, the highly scenic trails that lie around the lake are prime spots for horseback and mountain biking tours.
While you're around here, make sure you manage to squeeze in visits to the region's best-preserved Provençal villages such as Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, Riez and Gréoux-les-Bains, all within about 35 minutes' drive, and the cities of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, Manosque, Draguignan and Brignoles all around 40 kilometres away; while out and about, be sure to sample Provençal foodie favourites such as aubergine caviar, aîoli and the region's tremendously tasty tapenade.
