It's free, quick and easy!
- Family-friendly site on Oléron with direct beach access
- Two kilometres from the old fishing port of La Cotinière
- Bar-restaurant, barbecue area, shop, playground and hot tub
Drift a couple of hundred metres through scenic sand dunes from Oléron's Camping La Perroche Plage, to reach the beach stretch, sandy cove and swimming and fishing of Perroche, a couple of kilometres from the popular old fishing port of La Cotinière.
The site's well placed too for reaching the sea kayaking, kitesurfing and paddleboarding of several of the island's other excellent beaches. Cycling is a cinch from here as well, as one of Oléron's many bike paths passes in front of the site. (Bikes and biking bits can, but of course, be hired from the Camping La Perroche Plage team.)
You'll likely (and sensibly) spend much time on the beach here, but for when you're around on site, there's a pétanque court and table tennis to keep you occupied, and for the kids, a big and well-equipped playground with inflatables. (And if pétanque and table tennis are too energetic for your Oléron holiday? A hot tub is around on site too.)
Whether you're dishing up your own dinner or wanting to be waited on, eats and drinks are also covered: Camping La Perroche Plage has a bar-restaurant, a barbecue area, a picnic area and a shop with bread service in high season.

Local attractions
The excellent Île d'Oléron is an island of cycle paths, watersports, oyster farms, salt marshes and over 80 kilometres of coastline, most of which can be hiked or biked. Canoeing, sea kayaking, scuba diving, sailing, kitesurfing and paddleboarding are all available nearby, and a sailing school is at the site's beach of La Perroche.
A couple of kilometres away, La Cotinière has been an island fishing port for centuries, most famously yielding sardines and shrimp, but also a landing point for cuttlefish, lobster and langoustine, and around half of all of France's production of céteau. The port is also the site of the Lighthouse of La Cotinière, standing scenically on the island's south-west.
Lighthouse fans should see Chassiron lighthouse on the north of the island too, for its museum as well as its picworthy views over Oléron's east coast, Fort Boyard and the Île de Ré.
The 17th-century fortress of the Château d'Oléron (eight kilometres) has regular exhibitions and events, and the La Cité de l'Huître oyster museum has tours of the salt marshes alongside the story of Oléron's oyster farming industry.
