Searching for a Tarn-et-Garonne site with pretty surroundings and plenty of things to keep the kids busy? Chances are you’ll be more than happy with Camping Roussel. Around 10 minutes' drive from the historic pilgrimage town of Moissac in the Midi-Pyrénées, this farm site is set in 54 acres of countryside surrounded by fruit and lavender fields.
There's a lot going on here for all the family. Younger guests should enjoy letting off steam at the playground, while older kids play table football and ping pong. When it’s time to cool off, take a dip in the saltwater swimming pool or settle into a poolside deckchair to admire the stunning views over the countryside and woodlands.
This being a farm site, the owners can arrange meet-ups with animals including horses, sheep, pigs, hens and – perhaps more unusually – a parrot. In the local area it’s also possible to take riding lessons, play golf, organise parachute jump, go canoeing and rent pedal boats for expeditions along the waterways. You might just find yourself walking away with a new skill…
The farm is also something of a walking and cycling hub, with routes nearby for all levels of ability. If you need further sightseeing inspiration, browse the tourist info found on site. In the pilgrimage town of Moissac, you could join the Canal des Deux Mers cycling trail for peaceful waterfront pedals, or tour the medieval Saint-Pierre Abbey. Markets are held in town every Saturday and Sunday, and there are also numerous restaurants with terraces for alfresco dining.

Local attractions
If you’re the kind of holidaymaker who likes to keep active, you should be quite pleased to know that horse-riding is 15 minutes’ drive away from the site, a golf club is at 25 minutes and biking trails are scattered pretty much here, there and everywhere.
Mountain biking more your cup of tea? Lauzerte Gravity Park (20 minutes’ drive) should pique your interest. Speed demons can also join the audience for events at Circuit de Moto-cross “La Gaspale” (20 minutes).
Spend just a little longer in the car to reach Montauban (35 minutes), a pretty town on the river Tarn with an art museum and a gorgeous central plaza, Place Nationale, surrounded by red-brick arcades and restaurant terraces. While you’re in town, you could get your escape room fix at Escape Game Montauban (40 minutes) or head to Port Canal (40 minutes) for scenic canalside cycle rides.
On the other side of Montauban is Le Petit-Paris (an hour), a family-friendly park with tiny scale models of the Eiffel Tower and other iconic locations in France.
