It's free, quick and easy!
- Family-friendly site near Puybrun in the Dordogne Valley
- Waterpark with paddling pool, Jacuzzi and indoor pool
- Less than a kilometre from fishing and canoeing on the Dordogne river
Now this is clever. The play area at Camping La Sole in the Dordogne valley is right next to the outdoor pool – and associated sun loungers – so you can keep a beady eye on your little darlings while you're floating lazily on the water or basking contentedly alongside.
There's an indoor pool at this family-friendly park too, and a paddling pool if the little darlings want to splish. And a Jacuzzi for more grownup contentment, all alongside stacks of other leisure options like a multisports pitch, pétanque court, tennis court, table tennis and a games room… Summer sees a kids' club and other activities such as zumba classes, quizzes and sports tournaments.
And do you know what else is clever? The site's setting, that's what. Le Sole's Lot location is less than a kilometre from the Dordogne river, where you can – and should – try fishing and canoeing (or perhaps both at once). The splendid Gouffre de Padirac and the also-splendid village of Rocamadour are both under 20 kilometres away.

Local attractions
Canoeing and fishing on the Dordogne should be an early point of call with a stay here; after that, make it your mission to delve into ancient French history, natural attractions and family days within easy reach.
It's about seven kilometres from Le Sole's local town of Puybrun to the spectacular Gouffre de Padirac, the famed chasm slashed over 100 metres down into rock. Descend by stairlift to take a boat along the underground rivers, then get out to wander the mammoth cathedral cave, over 90 metres high.
Within 20 kilometres of Puybrun is another spectacular and mighty popular old place in the clifftop village of Rocamadour, this one dating back to the ninth century. There's also the Château de Castelnau at Prudhomat, sitting splendidly atop a hill overlooking the Dordogne Valley less than 20 kilometres away: you'll see it well before you get to it.
For kids, Le Rocher des Aigles birds of prey, parrot and falconry display centre is 19 kilometres from Camping Le Sole, and they should also like a splash at the waterpark Quercyland, about 25 kilometres away at Souillac.
