- Just outside the spectacular Causses du Quercy Natural Regional Park
- Peaceful and scenic setting near Gramat and Rocamadour
- 600 metres from the famed old village of Loubressac
In the water, on the water, in caves or up mountains… take your active pick from the many outdoorsy days around Camping La Garrigue.
This peaceful and shaded family site is surrounded by woodland, rocky outcrops and open fields, a short drive from the canoeing and trout fishing of the Dordogne river and five kilometres from climbing, hiking and mountain biking in the Causses du Quercy Natural Regional Park.
Its northern Lot department setting is also a short drive from the old old town of Gramat, the even older pilgrimage village of Rocamadour, and the mighty cave of Padirac, so you're very much going to need to pack your camera too.
La Garrigue is 600 metres from the beaut, colourful and spectacularly scenic village of Loubressac, a much recommended spot for picnics on the grass area beside its castle with accompanying views across the Dordogne valley and the Cere and the Bave rivers (camera very much needed here also). Supplies can be picked up on site, where the shop sells local produce and fresh bread daily.
If you're eating in, La Garrigue has a bar, restaurant and takeaway; if you're actively in, there's also an outdoor pool surrounded by greenery, a pétanque court, a playground and a games room.

Local attractions
The highlight around the site is undoubtedly Loubressac, a colourful medieval town heaped with acclaim for its flowers as well as its views and old houses. Start off in the middle of the town for a potter around its narrow streets and honey-coloured houses, before a picnic next to the castle and its magnif valley and river views.
Within a short drive there's also Gramat (15 kilometres), the medieval town that's now home to the Gramat Animal Park, and Rocamadour (22 kilometres), one of the most visited places in all of France (around a million people come here every year, so if you're going, get there early). Carennac, Autoire, Curemonte and Turenne are all within 35 kilometres.
Another deeply popular place in France – and the most-visited cave system in the country – is 10 kilometres away at the Padirac cave or Gouffre de Padirac, delving almost 100 metres into the rocky ground. If you're sticking to an active hol, Padirac is in the nearby Causses du Quercy Natural Regional Park: try hiking, horse riding, canoeing and kayaking, climbing, diving, abseiling, paragliding...
