- Family-friendly site 15 minutes’ drive from Prayssac in the Lot Valley
- Puy-l’Évêque 15 minutes’ drive and Château de Bonaguil 35 minutes
- Restaurant and bar; sports courts and swimming pools with waterslides
Set on a wooded hillside in the Lot Valley, 15 minutes’ drive south of pretty Prayssac and the Dordogne region, Camping La Tuque is a welcoming family-friendly site spanning more than nine hectares. With new owners for 2025, the site is run on eco-friendly lines using solar power where possible, collecting rain for watering plants and recycling batteries and light bulbs.
This spacious site sits under a canopy of trees to keep you cool in the height of summer, and the woodland provides a natural recreation ground where kids can play hide-and-seek and just generally let off steam. There’s also a play area with climbing frames, sports courts and a mini-golf course, plus table football and darts in the teenagers’ chill-out zone.
The roster of sports facilities also includes three swimming pools, one designated for toddlers and two with waterslides for guests to swoosh down, and you have the choice of hiking and cycling trails directly from the pitches… So all in all, it’s easy to keep everybody entertained.
You won’t need to worry about keeping everyone fed either, as you can buy fresh bread daily and the restaurant delivers locally sourced family favourites like burgers and steaks. And there’s a good selection of wine and cocktails available for when you feel like a relaxing, adults-only moment on the bar terrace.

Local attractions
Soak up a bit of regional culture and taste regional produce on a visit to the Friday morning market at Prayssac (15 minutes’ drive). There’s also a popular Sunday market at Montcuq (20 minutes), and lively night markets at Château d’Aix (15 minutes, Wednesday) and Montcabrier (25 minutes, Friday). If you feel like sampling a local vintage or two, there are tours and tastings at vineyards like Château de Chambert (15 minutes).
Another handsome castle is found at Château de Bonaguil (35 minutes), an austere 13th-century edifice where you can walk the ramparts while the kids play at being knights and princesses. To step further back in time, make for the Grotte Préhistorique des Merveilles (about an hour), where prehistoric paintings can be seen on the cave walls.
Family days out can also include rope courses and outdoor fun for all ages at Cape Nature Recreation Park (35 minutes), and leisurely boat cruises down the River Lot from Puy-l’Évêque (15 minutes), a gorgeous town with half-timbered houses topped by a château. Slightly further afield is the Parc Animalier de Gramat (an hour and 15 minutes), where brown bears and bison live a semi-feral existence.
