If you’re in need of the sort of break that aims to help you entirely unwind from work, you’re highly recommended to take a look at Camping Les Reflets du Lac, spread out over 16 hectares of gorgeously green Gers countryside. As the name suggests, this is a place on the banks of a lake – and really rather a large one at that, stretching out to 77 watery hectares. That, of course, means numerous spots in which to settle for a stress-free afternoon looking out over the lake, fishing and/or listening to the birds chirp in the trees and watching out for the egrets and herons that often stop by for a visit. (Perhaps try to fit in a snooze too, as the starry skies on summer nights are worth staying up late for…) Although much space is given over to simply chilling out, a good chunk of the land has also been dedicated to facilities for those who require more activity to keep them happy (most handy for families with differing opinions on the elements of a top holiday). Among these are a tennis court, pétanque, miniature golf and an outdoor pool with a paddling pool and waterslides. Escapades outside the site might take you up to the village of Miélan, half an hour away on foot, or to the nearby towns of Auch and Tarbes (each around 40 minutes’ drive); if you’re keen to keep things really rural, ask on site for tips on wineries, mountain bike trails, horse riding centres and pretty villages with traditional markets to poke about in.

  • Reception is unmanned after 7 p.m.. Please inform the campground while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time so that the team can provide information about your unit/site.
  • This is a quiet campground/park: no music is allowed.

If you like to have a theme to your holiday, this place may well suit you rather well – it’s in a handy spot for visits to the jazz festival in Marciac and the Latin music meetup in Vic Fezensac. Outside of such times, you could always adopt a history theme by meandering around the medieval square in Miélan, then aiming for the Renaissance-era cathedral in Auch (40 minutes’ drive) and making a pilgrimage to Lourdes (an hour) as so many have done over the years. Those seeking to base their break around outdoor times can instead turn attentions to the smart greens of Golf du Château Pallanne (15 minutes), climb to the treetops of Green in the Air adventure park (half an hour) or take to the trails of the Pyrénées National Park (an hour). Quad biking and horse riding are nearby too, as are several wineries for those whose ideal activity is a gentle wander and a glass of wine.
