You'll find lots to do on and see around Camping du Lac de Bonnefon set in countryside in Naucelle, Aveyron, as it's beside a large and well-stocked fishing lake that's free for guests to use, and many activities and facilities are on site for all tastes. Managers Chrystelle and Thierry and their team have set the site up to keep everyone entertained: a pool and Jacuzzi heated to 28°C and a paddling pool for young children are all open in summer, alongside high season activities including a kids' entertainer on weekday mornings and an entertainment programme for teenagers and adults in the afternoons. Evening entertainment also runs during this peak season with themed gastronomy evenings and musical events. Et there's more... Camping du Lac de Bonnefon also has pétanque, mini golf, beach volleyball, a trampoline, a bouncy castle and a playground, while for a small cost guests can hire bikes to take off into the hilly landscape surrounding the site. (The Jacuzzi should be availed of afterwards, but of course...) For lunch and dinner, the bar is open daily serving refreshments and the snack bar is open in the evening serving homemade pizzas, salads, desserts and regional dishes such as duck, Aligot and – try it – tripe. Fresh bread and pastries can be ordered for traditional French breakfasts every morning.

Local attractions

Camping Lac de Bonnefon is on the borders of the Aveyron and the Tarn regions between Rodez and Albi, in an area of many French castles, villages and museums as well as spectacular landscapes and several opps for outdoor sports like horse riding and kayaking. The nearby 13th-century fortified village of Sauveterre de Rouergue is famed for its handsome facades, and two more overlook the Aveyron valley within 45km of the site: the medieval village of Najac with its 12th-century fortress, and the small village of Belcastle with 11th-century castle restored by architect Fernand Pouillon in the 1970s. Within 40 kilometres are the cities of Rodez, with Gothic cathedral and several museums including the arty Museum Soulages, and Albi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with the Sainte Cécile cathedral and the Musée Toulouse-Lautrec; boat trips across the Tarn can be arranged from Albi too. If it's châteaux you're after, see also the Château du Bosc where artist Toulouse Lautrec spent many of his childhood summers, and if you're an architecture aficionado, puff along to the railway viaduct across the Viaur and to nearby Millau with its famed viaduct across the Tarn valley. (The town is also known for its luxury leather and gloves if you want to bring home le cadeaux – or make sure of un cadeau for yourself.)
