  • Well-equipped microlodge with a barrel sauna and a spacious terrace
  • A 25-minute drive to Thermes de Bains-les-Bains; half an hour to lakes
  • Includes a small kitchen, bathroom and a double bed; rural setting
A microlodge with a barrel sauna and a spacious terrace overlooking the Vosges countryside – who could resist such a thing? Just wait until you get wind that Ô P’tit Nid Milie is also only a 25-minute drive from Thermes de Bains-les-Bains, which are thermal baths surrounded by the Vosges Forest, and under 35 minutes from a couple of gorgeous lakes. But back to the original topic, which is the well-equipped microloge. It is tailor-made and suitable for summer and winter breaks. It’s seriously impressive what can fit in such a small thing, for it has a small kitchen, a bathroom with a shower and toilet and a double bed in a mezzanine room. A woodburning stove heats the adjacent barrel sauna. There’s also the rural setting to look forward to. A spacious terrace has a range of outdoor seating options, from a hammock to chairs and tables, so it's easy to soak it all in. If you time your trip right, Remiremont (15 minutes' drive away) hosts an annual four-day traditional Venetian Carnival with costumed characters. Outside of this period, try some of the town’s famous cakes, the Lorikeet Remiremont and Goose of Remiremont, or the trout fillets with a white-wine marinade. There are plenty of shops with local produce in Remiremont and its surrounds.

Local attractions

For any of you who like to spend the majority of your time outdoors, you should be pleased to hear that Ô P’tit Nid Milie is half an hour’s drive from the lake in Saulxures-sur-Moselotte (half an hour’s drive). At Base De Loisirs Du Lac De La Moselotte (half an hour), get stuck into watersports or get a medal of bravery for trying the inflatable obstacle course or large slides. That’s not the only lake you should add to your itinerary, though. Lac de Gérardmer (35 minutes) is a glacial lake 660 metres high in the mountains, next to the town of Gérardmer. Gérardmer has a ski resort and a slalom course for winter activities, and for summer, there's a handful of hiking and cycling routes (including a path to the observatory overlooking the lake and town). For more slopes, look towards the 10 kilometres of skiing and snowboarding runs at Ventron (35 minutes) or the larger ski resort in La Bresse (35 minutes). La Bresse also has an alpine rollercoaster, a good chance if you didn't get that first medal of bravery.
