  • Well-equipped site amid Normandy lakes and rivers
  • Under 10 minutes' drive to the beach at Quiberville-sur-Mer
  • Fishing ponds on site to land sturgeon and perch
Two rivers for the price of one. Normandy's Saâne and Vienne rivers encircle the peaceful site of Camping de la Vallée as they wind their way seawards: think salty breezes, big skies and a landscape where country and coast merge… Gentler pursuits on site include pétanque and table football, as well as a play area for smaller guests and a games room for older ones to lurk in. Or you could send the offspring off to go and catch dinner: there are half a dozen ponds around the site, a draw for wildlife and for anglers after sturgeon and perch. You can order takeaway to be delivered from a local pizzeria (no delivery charge) or buy groceries to make meals to eat at the many lakeside picnic tables (burn it off later on the basketball courts or in the fitness area). On the practical side, your stay is made easier by an on-site laundry and a washroom with baths and showers. You can bring your dog and that 'Boss of the Barbecue' apron you got for Christmas, as both are welcome (barbecues, more than novelty aprons…).

Powered grass motorhome site (waterside)

Liked: Beautiful pitch right next to a lake, we saw Carp jumping up out of the lake. Swallows dipping into and flying over the river. Reception sold beer, wine & crisps. Can order pizza to be delivered for eve, also baguettes choc au pan for collection in morn. Facilities fine … 7 min long shower with token ( free). Fishing €10 euro per day. Relaxed atmosphere. We didn’t venture out as Husband was here for fishing. Didn’t catch sadly. Permanent caravans all individual pretty gardens. A river runs though the site. Only one thing, wished the grass had been cut where the hook ups vans were… I walked around the site and where tents pitched the grass was short. I would recommend and defo go back. Perhaps on way back to Dieppe, just 25 mins away.

From the manager: We were happy to welcome you both and looking forward to see you again. Thank you for your wonderful and detailed comments of our campsite. It's truly heartwarming..

Power optional grass tent, caravan or trailer tent site (waterside)

Liked: Location, clean shower block, overlooking lake.

Disliked: Touring pitches had long grass, chance of getting stuck in wet weather.

From the manager: Hello Anonymous, You dislike "Touring pitches had long grass, chance of getting stuck in wet weather" Thank you for your concern, as we are located in Normandy and it may rain one day, and following your remark we have decided to stop welcoming motor homes. But there is also an explanation why we never had a motor home stuck in the grass.... since 2015. There is a layer of soil for the grass and below this is ballast which drain the rain

Local attractions

The beach at Quiberville-sur-Mer is your nearest (10 minutes by car) for dipping, lounging and digging big holes. The larger town of Veules-les-Roses (15 minutes) has beetling cliffs and a pebble shore that once drew painters by the cartload. Veules-les-Roses is also a good place to try your hand at windsurfing and sea-kayaking. Fécamp (50 minutes) is the starting point for the Route du Lin (Linen Route) cycle path, taking in history and some of Normandy's finest scenery over an 80-kilometre route, and is also home to Woody Park and its tree climbing and bungee jumping. Hautot-sur-Mer (10 minutes) is one of many local centres for equestrian activities, including guided horseback trails. For a busy port, Dieppe (20 minutes) is remarkably easy on the eye; Saturday markets will thrill/horrify some visitors with buckets of live snails and recognisable bits of boar. On the cliffs above in the Château Musée you can see how Renoir, Pissarro and Sickert painted the town red (and other colours).
