Whatever you fancy delving into on and around the big woodland site of Camping L'Oasis du Berry (and it's in the Brenne Regional Natural Park, so that's quite a lot), make a trip to its tiptop restaurant an early stop.
You can dine in the roomy indoor space if that's your gastronomic bent, but a fine terrace is available too for those eating alfresco, overlooking the site's big pool: tuck into treats like homemade pizza or curry cream burgers as evening falls and the lights twinkle over the water.
The restaurant's also the setting for L'Oasis du Berry's weekly foodie theme nights, and its surroundings for evening entertainment including dances and music. Sports tournaments, treasure hunts, dancing and aqua gym classes also run in summer; ask too about group sessions for paintballing, water games and a dive into a nearby foam pool. A football pitch, pétanque court, basketball court, volleyball court, table tennis and miniature golf are also around to keep you entertained.
And now that you're fed, watered and have thoroughly investigated all that's on offer on site… time to scout around what's on offer in the surroundings. Which is rather a lot from this Saint-Gaultier, Brenne Regional Natural Park and Creuse river setting...
Hire a bike on site to get onto the Voie Verte route passing alongside, or arrange paintballing, canoeing, fishing and horse riding nearby – or there's archery, climbing and caving… or sightseeing around the region's medieval towns and villages… or simply having a peaceful time ambling and birdwatching around the many lakes and ponds of the Brenne Regional Natural Park.

Local attractions
You can opt to stay within walking or cycling distance of the site, or take the car out for the day to some of the several attractions and activities in under an hour's drive.
It's a short stroll or couple of minutes' drive to L'Oasis du Berry's local town of Saint-Gaultier, an ancient walled settlement above the Creuse river. Guided tours run on Tuesday afternoons from June to September and a farmers' market selling local produce like goats' cheese, fish and poultry is held on Friday mornings. From Saint-Gaultier, drive half an hour to reach the pretty old town of Saint-Benoit-du-Sault, about 45 minutes to La Chatre, in the Loire Valley, and 50 or so minutes to Montmorillon, one of France's designated towns of art and history.
Fishing is a couple of hundred metres from the site and canoeing within five. Within driving distance there's also canoeing (20 kilometres), climbing (25 kilometres) and watersports of all sorts including windsailing, waterskiing and boating at lush Éguzon lake, 35 minutes' drive away.
