It's free, quick and easy!
- Family-friendly site steps from a golden sandy beach
- By Lac de Trémelin, with walking paths and watersports/activity centre
- Lake views and restaurant terrace
It's mere steps to a big blue lake and a golden sandy beach from Brittany's Domaine de Trémelin in the Morbihan department: you'll be on the sands or in the water in a jiffy from your pitch, as well as taking in the spectacular lake views on site from the restaurant terrace.
The lake is the Lac de Trémelin, covering a vast 45-hectare space that's part of a natural water and forest site including two protected areas. It has a beach to laze on, walking paths snaking around the water, and a watersports and recreation centre where you can sort activities such as fishing, sailing, canoeing, climbing and horse riding.
Domaine de Trémelin is set in part of the region's forest, with grass pitches under the shade of trees, all 20 minutes' drive from the famed forest of Paimpont, rumoured to be the Brocéliande woods from Arthurian times. Breton capital Rennes is less than 45 minutes' drive away (or a couple of hours by bike if you're feeling hardy).
The site runs activities for all ages during the summer months, and has added a play area on the beach for kids to use. A restaurant with lakeside terrace and different daily menus is open from mid-March until October, serving homemade food made with local produce, for long lazy evenings by this beaut lakeside setting.

Local attractions
The beaut lake of Trémelin is a popular Brittany holiday spot for activities galore on and off the water: make the recreation centre your first port of call to arrange electric and pedal boat hire, canoeing, sailing, swimming (supervised in summer), fishing, horse riding and treetop adventuring.
Mountain biking and hiking trips can start from the lake's shores, either around the waters themselves or on the marked trails of the GR 37, along its 134-kilometre route from the Rance river to the old Canton of Oust. Weeks' worth more trails are in the region, including over 30 paths around the (allegedly) Arthurian forest of Brocéliande, and the full 142 kilometres of the Tour de Brocéliande for those who hanker after a proper quest.
At splendid Rennes, around 40 minutes' drive away via the N12 and D31, potter among cobbled streets and half-timbered houses, pick up fresh fruit and veg at the big Saturday morning market, lounge around the main square, city hall and Place Saint-Anne, or mooch around the Musée de Bretagne at the Champs Libres.
