  • Finistère site surrounded by dunes in Site Natura 2000 de Guissény
  • Étang du Curnic 15 minutes’ walk and Plouguerneau 10 minutes’ drive
  • Short stroll from a sandy beach; caravan bar, pétanque and play area
A short stroll from a sandy beach in a protected Natura 2000 landscape. Cycling and hiking along the long-distance GR34 Customs Trail. Spectacular Atlantic views. That’s what you can look forward to when you book your stay at Camping du Curnic in Finistère, run by David and Manu, long-time friends and residents of the local town Guissény (five minutes’ drive) since 2003. Spread over around 10 acres, the campsite was extensively renovated in 2023, with solar-powered shower blocks and a constant supply of hot water plus outdoor facilities including secure bike storage and charging stations for electric bikes. There are lots of chances for family fun in the outdoors too, like the play area, pétanque courts and a laidback caravan bar (which serves takeaways too) with a sheltered terrace, while a food truck sometimes puts in an appearance as well. Accommodation comes in all shapes and sizes, with some pitches set among the dunes and others – neatly partitioned by hedgerows – closer to the aforementioned facilities. Dogs are welcome to join you on your Finistère jaunt, and no doubt they will welcome all the exercise as you explore the untamed Côte des Legends on foot. Happily the nearby beach is canine-friendly too.

What customers say

Superb natural spot near sandy beaches with spacious pitches. Clean, modern loos. Friendly staff, handy food trucks/bar. Downsides: busy loos at peak times, summer dog beach bans, no motorhome service points.

Power optional grass motorhome site

Liked Loved this site, right on the beach. Facilities were up there with the best of them. Busy which is great to see. Book early in French school holiday times, as they were full. Right on the coast path if you want to go for a walk. Lovely location for sunrise and sunsets. Friendly staff. Patience of a Saint dealing with the only other English person we saw , arguing about the local tax which you pay on all sites, regardless of if you pay in full on pitchup.

Disliked The main bulk of the toilets, and all of the showers were closed at 10pm, until the morning. This caused a back log for the toilets that remained open 24hrs, but only for the period around bed time. (minor detail)

Power optional grass motorhome site

Liked The staff were friendly and helpful. The pitches were of a good size but required chocks. The beach was nice, we were unable to visit the little cafe as it was closed due to the Fest Nos. This is a local festival celebrating local Breton culture. This was a bonus for us and it was very good. It’s only on for 1 day.

Disliked Queue for the showers.

Dune power optional grass site

Liked Clean showers and close to beach

Disliked Information said beach was dog friendly and is the reason we came - it is no different to the rest of France in the summer dogs are not allowed during the day. Pictures of pitches are not as expected- we booked a dunes pitch but were on a bit of scrubland on the corner of the site with a hedge separate in us from the road - hardly the idyll described

Dune power optional grass site

Liked Shower and toilet facilities, close to beach, freezer for campers available, ordering baguettes for next day in the office

Disliked hidden cost (some climate fee), that you have to pay on entry. pitches assigned, not free to choose what wasn't mentioned on the website. If you get no. 73 and your friends 21, you are on the far sides of a camp. Showers locked at 10 pm, only one shower and two toilets open for whole camp. Before 7am you need code to open toilet doors.

Local attractions

Active families can keep themselves occupied with wild swimming, escapades aboard kayaks and paddleboards or learning how to sail dinghies at the Base Nautique de Guissény (five minutes’ walk, all abilities catered for). For the more adventurous, there’s also kitesurfing on reliable waves at quiet Plage du Vougo (15 minutes). Strike out from the campsite on the GR34 hiking trail to witness dramatic seascapes from the clifftops, or canter along the beach at sunset aboard ponies from the local riding school (five minutes’ drive). Alternatively, hire mountain bikes in Plouguerneau (10 minutes) to follow mountain bike tracks including the circular Hafen Morgat route over rough ground, for which some expertise is needed. For gentler days out, head to Étang du Curnic (15 minutes’ walk), separated from the sea by a narrow spit of land, to spot bitterns, sandpipers and swans among the reeds, or see if you can glimpse rare orchids on a stroll around the wetlands of Site Natura 2000 de Guissény (also 15 minutes).
