  • Family-friendly site in the popular seaside resort of Bénodet
  • A 300-metre walk from the sea and 400 metres from Benodet's main beach
  • Waterpark with waterslides; bar, shop and multisports ground
Not one… not two… not even three – but four golden sandy Brittany beaches are within a paltry kilometre's amble from family-friendly seaside site Camping de la Plage in Finistère. It's 15 minutes' stroll from the seaside resort of Bénodet where the Odet river meets the sea, 300 metres from the water and 400 from Benodet's main beach. Shellfish, shrimp and crab fishing, watersports and simply lounging on the sands are all exceptionally easy from this southern Brittany coast setting next to these four golden beaches; in town, there are art galleries and museums, a casino and crêperies to keep you occupied, while mountain biking, climbing and quite a few other outdoor activities are available nearby. But you'll likely want to laze around on site for some time too… For Camping de la Plage has a big and quite fab waterpark, made up of a covered pool, two outdoor pools, two waterslides, two hot tubs and a kids' paddling pool – plus outdoor aqua gym sessions in July and August. Among the many other facilities are a bar, an outdoor fitness circuit and a small indoor fitness room, a multisports court, a pétanque court, indoor and outdoor ping pong tables and a games room with billiards and table football. If you're hankering after some organised entertainment after long sunny days at the beach, karaoke, dances and themed evenings are held in July and August. Among the site's amenities are an accessible block with toilets, hot showers and a baby bathroom, and a launderette with washers and dryers. Barbecues are allowed.

What customers say

Top spot near beach/town. Friendly staff, clean amenities & great pool complex are faves. Very family-friendly with heaps for kids. Some pitches need a spruce-up, and a few found noise/tight spacing. Wi-Fi was a bit hit-and-miss for some.

Power optional grass and earth site

Liked Swimming pools were great. Location was perfect with so many great beaches close by. Toilets and showers were clean and plenty of them.

Disliked - swimming short rules for children had never been an issue anywhere else in France. However here, even the children needed the awful tight shorts.
- Pitches where we were are so closely packed together.
- Customer service just seemed a bit off at this place in comparison to others.

Power optional grass and earth site

Liked A great campsite in a great location. Friendly reception staff with good English.

Nice hot showers with good water pressure. Bathroom facilities were clean.

Good sized pitch with good shade cover which was great as was quite hot for our trip!

The swimming pools were good. A covered heated pool (29degrees most days) outdoor heated pool (29 degrees most days) 2 slides ( plunge pools off these were cold! ) 2 covered jacuzzi pools for adults only.
Well maintained, clean and warm. Kids had a great time there. The pool complex felt a little bare. No plants or greenery. Rules were strictly enforced. No picnics, music, ball games

The little shop selling basics and pastries was lovely. The lady working in there always spoke and had time for a little chat. The pastries were lovely and often warm!

Tasty pizzas from the little snack bar and these were reasonably priced.

Lots of disabled facilities - toilets, showers and ramp access (not that we needed them but good to see).

Several trampolines, play park and bouncy castles which our youngest loved.

Free WiFi, connection was a bit hit and miss but again did not affect our stay.

Good laundry facilities and reasonably priced at €6.50 per machine. Quick washes and drying - helpful with a family!

Disliked The last two nights of our stay the campsite became quite noisy from children shouting and screaming and slamming bathroom doors after 11. I belive the site asked for quite atter 11. It's a shame this is not monitored more. Would prefer someone keeping an eye on that rather than the pool monitor checking for correct swim trunks and wristbands! Cars also moving around on the site late at night. This happened on several occasions.

Also the shower blocks had roller doors which were shut down around midnight each night. They were then lifted again anywhere from 0300 onward and this was not done quietly as a light sleeper it woke me every night.

Power optional grass and earth site

Liked Friendly staff. Close to beach and restaurants. Pool was good. Pitch was a decent size. Toilet/shower block kept clean.

The snack bar onsite was a good option after a busy day, lovely fresh pizzas and burgers.
Enjoyed a drink at the bar which is conveniently placed next to the snack bar.
The shop was OK for fresh bread and croissant and milk, but not a great deal else for sale.

Benodet is a lovely clean place and only a short walk to the sea from the campsite.
There are some great places to visit within the surrounding areas.

Disliked Poor electric supply, it tripped out everyday for the first 12 days of the holiday.
Not much for older children to do, we have an 11 year old and apart from the pool there isn't much more to do as the park is for under 10's.
The pool area could do with more supervision or a lifeguard.
Remember to take loo roll as not supplied in site toilets.

Power optional grass and earth site

Liked Lovely, clean site. Very peaceful setting with plenty to do for the kids. Our pitch felt nice and private, even though we were right next to people on all sides.
Staff were very helpful and welcoming.
Great location with several beaches nearby.
Swimming Pool and slides were where the kids wanted to be all day and a nice play area too.
Nice bar for a few drinks at the end of the day.

Disliked WiFi was awful and kicked you off every few minutes. It was busy season, so was probably overloaded with too many users.

Local attractions

A few days at least should be spent on the four sandy stretches local to the site: the Benodet beaches of Trez, with beach club and beach cabin as well as catamaran and windsurf rental, 400 metres away; the protected lagoon of La Letty, 500 metres away; Saint Gilles, the spot for shellfish, shrimp and crab fishing, also 500 metres away, and Coq, a kilometre away facing the Odet river estuary. Within easy ambling distance too is a casino, within 600 metres, and the Benodet Seaside Museum within a kilometre, showcasing the town's relationship with the sea and how it's changed throughout the centuries. Benodet Marina, the departure point for trips to the Glénan Islands and Sainte Marine, as well as the starting point for many Brittany races and regattas, is two kilometres away. Also easy to get to from here is Quimper (17 kilometres), Finistère's capital and an anciently traditional city with cobbled streets, half-timbered buildings, footbridges and many residents wandering around in traditional Breton dress. Have a look too at the cathedral of Saint-Corentin, with its bendy middle (go see) and the nearby museum of fine arts, home to hundreds of paintings alongside regular events and shows. More must-see old piles are at Concarneau, 19 kilometres away; if your tastes tend more towards nature hikes, the Armorique Regional Natural Park is under 60 kilometres from Benodet.
