Two top Normandy destinations are a breeze to get to from family-friendly Camping L'Hypo'Camp: the World War II memorial of Omaha beach (five kilometres) and the spectacular sight of the Bayeux Tapestry, within 10. Omaha beach, the one five kilometres away, has a watersports centre with sailing activities. When you return back to base, there are more ways to unwind, as the quiet site has a children's play area with a seesaw and swings. Barbecues are allowed on site too for alfresco dinners, and there's the convenience of having a small grocery shop on site if you need to gather ingredients. There are also other amenities including two well-maintained shower and toilet blocks. L'Hypo'Camp is outside the coastal commune of Colleville-sur-Mer, just under 40 kilometres from Calvados department capital Caen.

Laid out well with wash facilities at both ends.
Little shop/Bar/Morning breakfast ordering.
Clean washrooms, plenty hot water.
Washing same, plenty hot water.
Toilets spotless.
Staff incredibly helpful & friendly.
Proximity to D Day areas if needed.
1 hr from Cherbourg.

Disliked Our pitch (35) was a little limited as it had a tree on it which shortened the width. We were in a campervan, but doubt a MH would fit (but doubt owners would put a MH unit on it anyway)

Liked lovely campsite, very friendly staff who spoke amazing English and couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable they even lent us a camp bed when ours broke . The pitches were massive and very flat. A couple of toilet/shower blocks with 2 toilets and showers in each block so we never had to wait for a shower, no toilet paper in the toilets but there is a dispenser on the wall that is regularly topped up . There is a very little shop to get basics and a bar that serves drinks till 7.Supermarket 5 miles down the road

Liked Really friendly campsite set right next to Omaha beach. Such a mix of nationalities staying on one sight was really lovely. Staff were really friendly and gave you a warm welcome. You can order fresh bread and pastries daily to collect in the morning. Would definitely visit again.

Disliked The site was very full and our pitch was quite shady so next time we would try to book a sunnier spot.

Liked Great campsite, lots of greenery, beautiful birdsong every evening, staff were amazing, very friendly, English spoken, there is a small bar and shop, great place to meet fellow travellers, go between 5 and 7pm, sit in sunshine, with local beer and cidre

Disliked Nothing dislike here, I would definitely return, probably be a good idea to have a bike, I walk a lot, so Omaha beach and US cemetery 3 miles away was a lovely countryside walk

Local attractions

Normandy tourist destinations of Omaha beach and the Bayeux Tapestry see hundreds of thousands of visitors to this region every year. The Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial is at the site's local town of Colleville-sur-Mer, overlooking the beach; at Bayeux, take time to see the town as well as its famous tapestry, stopping off at the 11th-century cathedral, the Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy, and, if you're here for World War II remembrance, the British war cemetery just outside town. The fishing, horse riding and canoeing within the same distance should provide plenty of entertainment by the coast, as should the local sands within a kilometre, and the fishing boat views from the harbour of Port-en-Bessin, three kilometres from the site. The World War II memorial and museum of La Pointe du Hoc within 20 minutes' drive of the site. Also, remember to take your chance to have a tour of the Isigny Sainte Mère Coopérative (20 minutes' drive) cheese and butter factory.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Dogs

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.

Hired accommodation

Hired accommodation: €300.00 ($598.81) damage/cleanliness/bracelet deposit is required on arrival and will be refunded on departure after inspection of your unit should no damage/losses be found.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

Reception

Reception is closed from noon to 1:30 p.m.. No arrivals are permitted between these times.
Reception is open from 1:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. between 28/03 and 10/10.
