Have a holiday in the Basque Country at Camping Harrobia, to be a five-minute stroll from the nearest sandy beach and niftily located at the coastal town of Bidart. It's a cinch to get to the site as it's a quick four and a half kilometre drive from the motorways of south-west France, and a cinch to nip over the border to Spain too (the swish seaside town of San Sebastián is under 40 kilometres away). Biarritz is five kilometres away and Angelat eight. Facilities include an outdoor pool, playground, a bar and a restaurant. Activities such as aqua gym and a kids' club are run in summer. The site also has toilets, showers and a launderette. Free private parking is available.

Local attractions

Local town Bidart is an old and traditional settlement, with bright houses to see, easy access to activities such as surfing, bodyboarding, golf and tennis, and a weekly market every Saturday. A free tour of the town leaves from the tourist information centre every Wednesday and Friday morning. Popular and lively Biarritz five kilometres away is one of the best-known surfing destinations in France, and has been a popular French seaside town since Napoleon dipped his toes in the waters here all those years ago. It has several beaches, a seafront casino and more in town, plenty of museums, heaps of independent shops and a spectacular walk along the beach up to the Pointe Atalaye. Also close by is Angelet, with five kilometres of beaches and the Natural Park of Izadia behind the dunes on the Adour River; Bayonne, reachable from Biarritz via a walk along the river, and the fishing port and busy resort of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, with the church where Louis XIV married Marie-Thérèse.
