What a spot to get away to if you fancy cycling between the pine trees of the Landes Forest or spending days by the lake. Camping Le Pipiou, a lakefront site in Aquitaine 15 minutes’ drive away from Landes Forest, makes a fabulous place to unwind with the whole family. Early mornings might be spent watching the sunrise on the beach next to the site, overlooking Lake Parentis. Treat yourself to a morning paddle or save the dipping for later at the outdoor pool complex, which stretches over 600 square metres and is surrounded by deckchairs. If ‘pamper yourself’ is a key phrase in your vocabulary when you’re on holiday, Camping Le Pipiou has a number of facilities that’ll sort you out. There’s a jacuzzi by the outdoor pool, as well as a city park for relaxation and a fitness room where guests can get those feelgood endorphins going with a workout. When the children want to let off steam, simply stroll to the miniature golf course or the outdoor play area, which has inflatables to bounce on. Bikes are available to hire should you decide to take a lap of the lake (a great decision given the gorgeous scenery). There are watersports activities available for a different view back over the shore too. When it’s time to take the pace down a notch, Lake Parentis has a snack bar and restaurant with a terrace. There’s also a grocery store on site, plus family entertainment in high season.

Liked: Peacefulness as out of season.
Our pitch was in a quiet wooded area.
Showers and toilets were clean.
Closeness to the lake and walk into the village.
Perfect for cyclists

Disliked: Le point négatif est les sanitaires
Peu de douches ( obligés de traverser le camping pour avoir des douches disponibles et correctes(sanitaires plus récents ))
De plus, il est assez désagréable d’aller aux toilettes et de se faire arroser les pieds par la personne qui prend sa douche dans la cabine à côté.
Malgré un ménage régulier, le sol est toujours sale à cause des passages réguliers empêchant le séchage du sol.

Liked: I would say the sight was more suitable for a family with children of any age. We enjoyed our stay as you could walk to a resturants off sight & wonderful cycle routes from campsite. It was kept very clean & facilities good.

Local attractions

Full steam ahead to Landes Forest (from 15 minutes’ drive), where hiking and cycling trails weave between thick pine trees. Tree-climbing sites such as T en Leyre (35 minutes) are considered to be almost a rite of passage in the forest. Switch up your lake day for a beach day at Arcachon Bay (45 minutes) on the Atlantic coast. An oyster lunch might catch your attention, as the area is very much renowned for its quality fresh oysters. One spot close to your base is Biscarrosse (15 minutes), just up the lake. Take a cycling or walking trail all the way there or follow a trail from this spot through forests and dunes to Vivier Beach. If you have time (and who doesn’t have time for a city famed for its wines?), make your way to Bordeaux (an hour and 15 minutes). Its cathedral, museums and riverfront are just gorgeous as its reds, whites and rosés.

All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
