Camping Le Pont de Vicq

Liked Right on the Dordogne river.

Disliked Arrived at site and reception was initially closed. After phoning, the lady who I spoke with did not even realise we had a booking.
Then told to just pick whatever pitch we wanted. Campsite looked quite run down, loads of old static caravans behind riverside pitches. Once into our pitch it was not well maintained, other had their plug in points running across middle of the pitch. Then noticed an extremely large gathering of a Traveller community in the field adjacent to campsite, they had cut a hole in the fence and were freely roaming through the site. (Witnessed lady from reception telling off some children for using the sites play park/area) Public footpath straight in front of pitch had electric scooters driving up and from the community in the field, going extremely fast. Only a small low wooden fence separated this.
The toilet block, only 1 of two was open and then only half of that one was open. Two toilets, two showers that were all very run down.
We did not feel comfortable or safe on this site so left soon after arrival.

Liked The Dordogne river beside us.

Disliked Pathway lighting not turned on at night. No hot water for dishes. Some sinks were unusable. There is a very large gens du voyage community beside the campsite. We were the only campers there and we attracted some attention from the site’s children. Unfortunately it included them coming through our pitch on scooters. There was also noise (singing, shouting, dogs barking) from the site’s children at night.
The river, whilst beautiful, has a public footpath alongside it and access to the campsite pitches can easily be made from it.

Disliked People have complained about this site and I woukd say they are justified.
On arrival we were simply told to choose a pitch and by the way we will be closing one of the toilet blocks this week.
Appreciate it was out of season but wasn't welcoming
Facilities were clean enough but toilets need hooks in them if you walk over to have a shower you gave nowhere to put ur towel.

Showers they took a long long time to get Luke warm not good at all.
Site was empty so in peak season showers must be freezing.
Site is badly lit and could do with typing up.
Many old static huts on site.

Liked We like the space on the site with level, hedged pitches arranged around the rugby pitch. VPN is allowed on the wifi at the bar. Situation by the river is lovely. Staff are friendly and the prices are reasonable. Large pool.

Disliked Some noise from heavy machinery at 2am and 5am in the morning. People do not respect rules about driving cars a night. Toxic pollution in the river at present prevents bathing, hopefully not permanent.

Disliked Bonjour déjà j’ai contacté le camping pour annuler suite à la cyenobacterie dans la rivière et suite à mon opération qui m’interdisait la piscine très mal entretenu de plus après deux l’ours a boire l’eau du robinet ma femme et moi étions malade j’ai donné une caution de 20€ pour le badge alors que beaucoup d’autres non rien payé de plus vu que je suis passé par vous aucun remboursement quand je suis parti une semaine avant la fin

Vous avez réservé avec Pitchup, vous aviez déjà payé votre séjour, vous m'avertissez quelques jours avant que vous ne voulez plus venir à cause des bactéries dans la rivière.
Vous êtes quand même venu mais dès votre arrivée on a bien senti que vous étiez là par obligation
Je pense que le fait que vous n'avez pas pu vous baigner, ne vous autorise pas à dire des mensonges sur le camping
l'eau est potable, le badge n'est pas donné systématiquement si oui avec une caution de 20 € quand à la piscine l'ARS est passée deux jours avant votre arrivée et elle est nettoyée quotidiennement et vous m'aviez dit que le médecin vous autorisait la piscine
