It's free, quick and easy!
- Peaceful farmland site 10 minutes' cycle ride from Faaborg town
- Odense Zoo and Egeskov Castle within a half-hour drive
- Hire bikes to explore the surrounding Funen Alps
Fishing, forest walks and rides, freshwater swimming, fab cycle paths – it’s fair to say that the area around Faaborg Camping has things pretty well sorted for fresh-air days.
From here it’s a 10-minute bike ride into the pretty market town of Faaborg, for strolls through its cobbled streets and courtyards, fresh fish at harbourside restaurants and boat trips out to the islands of the South Funen archipelago.
It’s not just coastal attractions here though: cycling, hiking and horse riding are all excellent ways to get out and explore the surrounds around here, aka the Funen Alps. Even if you’re not into day-long cycle tours a bike is a tremendous idea for getting about; bring one along or hire on site for easy passage to a golf course, fishing lakes and an adventure park.
Amid all this activity, there’s plenty of space to chill out and sort restful nights at his peaceful site, set on a farm dating back to 1827. Settle in for coffee/cake/ice cream (perhaps all three – you’ve no doubt been busy) at the café while the kids amuse themselves at the adjacent playground… or take a wander up to the far end of the site to make friends with the site’s horses.
Amenities include a cosy heated toilet block housed in the old barn, with accessible and family-friendly facilities and eco-friendly solar-heated hot water.

Local attractions
It’s a leisurely 10-minute bike ride to Faaborg town centre for shops, restaurants and the arty Faaborg Museum. The town's also home to the Arresten prison museum, where you can have a glimpse of life behind bars (a handy place to visit if the small sorts need an incentive to inspire better behaviour).
Faaborg harbour’s also the place to for kayak rentals, fishing trips and seawater swimming (there are bathing jetties, a kids’ pool and a sauna for those who found it all a little chilly). If you’d like to explore further along the coast, ferries leave from here for the short jaunt to the islands of Lyø, Avernakø and Bjørnø, all good destinations for beaches, nature trails and birdwatching.
Other recommended visits around the South Funen area include Egeskov Castle (said to be Europe’s best-preserved moated Renaissance castle), the Naturama natural history museum and Odense Zoo – all are within a half-hour drive.
