  • Horse riding, picnics, guided hikes and garden workshops on site
  • Restaurant and barbecue available; dogs and kids welcome
Less than an hour's drive from central Bogota but feeling like a world away, Glamping El Nodo is a peaceful farm site where you can unwind from city life and destress while sleeping under the stars. This rural spot is close to the village of Tenjo and it's surrounded by greenery where you can get to know some of the area's wildlife as well as the small animals that live on site. To help you develop a deeper connection with your rural surroundings, you can join in with activities like horse riding, mountain picnics and guided hikes, as well as garden workshops on site. Cooking and eating outdoors are essential parts of the experience as well, so you'll be able to use the barbecue on site or build your own campfire. Not in the mood for cooking? Take a table at the restaurant instead and have something local cooked for you. Other facilities on site include a bar, a play area and games room, so there should be something to please all ages. Life on site is pretty laidback – you'll be staying on grass pitches with plenty of space and shade, where dogs and kids are welcome. Essential amenities include wifi, toilets and showers.

Local attractions

Tours, hikes or bike rides in the surroundings might introduce you to some of the local wildlife, but if you'd like to be sure of spotting something, you’ll need to make a visit to Bioparque La Reserva to see colourful birds (some of which are endangered) or Faunaticos, a child-friendly park with mini safaris and petting areas. Both are about half an hour's drive away. Other options for family days out include Parque Monarca (20 minutes' drive), to meet butterflies, insects and carnivorous plants, or Carmen De Los Juncales Ecological Park (half an hour), which has swings and treehouses alongside its scenic nature trails. Meanwhile, for a laidback hour or two you might like to soak in the hot pools at Termales El Zipa (25 minutes). It's possible that you’ve come along here to escape the city – but if not, then you should certainly take a day out in Bogotá (45 minutes). The Gold Museum and Botero Museum are a couple of the top picks, and you should also take a stroll through the colourful streets of the Candelaria district and head up Monserrate for some spectacular views over the city.
