- Located in Coonawarra on the Limestone Coast, SA - Boandik country
- Land of giant redgums and underground aquifers.
What really sets Bellwether apart from other campsites is the space, you are at least 100m apart from other campers. We consider ourselves a boutique campground - where we believe less is more.
You are surrounded by 1,000+ year old red gums and a central communal campfire* to gaze at stars and share conversation over a glass of red.
Come and visit between Feb - April and you might see the wine being made during vintage, you can even join in and stay a week doing the vintage experience. Cook using fresh herbs and produce from the garden, our glampers get fresh eggs and sourdough each day. We have an exclusive wine tasting at 4pm Mon-Sat, 3pm Sun
Did we mention our posh loos? We have a beautiful amenities building with 7 showers, 6 toilets and a claw foot bath. This includes a disabled shower and toilet.
We are dog friendly but please keep them on a lead, pick-up after them and ensure they don't bother the sheep, chickens, cows or other campers.
Glamp in one of our Bell Tents. Wake to the sound of birds, sleep in a bed with fresh linen, woollen underlays and quilts, a short walk from our bathrooms including a claw foot bath and one of Coonawarra's best cellar doors (Gourmet Traveller awards).

Local attractions
Glen Roy
Some places feed and inspire the soul, the Glen Roy Shearing Shed is one of those places, a beautiful mixture of history, humour and creativity. The 1868 Glen Roy Shearing Shed was designed by Architect William Thomas Gore and built by Chinese labourers en-route to the gold fields. Sheep were still shorn until 2009, sensitively renovated now it is home to Bellwether Wines boutique winery, community kitchen, cellar door, produce garden and campground, most lambs here these days are of the roast kind accompanied with a good local red. This beautiful stone building greets you as you drive into the famous Coonawarra wine region, 7km north of the township.
The World heritage listed Naracoorte Caves are 20 mins up the road or take a drive over ancient coastlines to the historic seaside fishing towns of Robe and Beachport, or 50 mins south to the dormant volcano of the Blue Lake in Mount Gambier and surrounding sink holes.
