  • Peaceful and well-maintained family-run park in pretty countryside
  • Less than a 10-minute drive from Tenby and Pembrokeshire coast beaches
  • Wifi, dog-walking area and enclosed playground on site
Whether you use the 11 acres of family-run Trefalun Park for some serious relaxation or as a base for roaming around Pembrokeshire, it’s an ace spot set in some of west Wales’ finest scenery, with kid-friendly attractions a short stroll away. Guests tend to be chuffed with the personal and friendly service received here and find it a breeze to get comfy in the sheltered, level and well-kept grounds. You’re likely to hear a bark of approval from any four-legged family member you bring along once they see the dog-exercise area, as well as a shout of glee from kids who set eyes on the enclosed playground. The park is also popular because it pays attention to the simple but important stuff – it’s well-lit at night, and it has electric hook-ups available for tourers and tents, plus central heating in the bathroom and washing-up areas. The location is also a bright spot at this site, a 10-minute drive from the massive beaches around Tenby for days of paddling in the sea and sandcastle building. Family-friendly stuff to do is also within walking distance, like Heatherton World of Activities (10-minute stroll) for indoor and outdoor amusement including paintballing, fishing, archery and golf, and the 52-acre Manor Wildlife Park (a 15-minute wander) with exotic animals including lemurs, tigers and wallabies.

Local attractions

Nearby Tenby (10 minutes’ drive) has plenty to do with its busy harbour and gorgeous golden-sand beaches. Poke around the shops inside the old town walls in search of souvenirs to take home and pull up a pew at restaurants and bars specialise in everything from locally sourced seafood to flavours from further away. Grab gourmet grub from Saundersfoot (10 minutes) too, an up-and-coming resort with a pretty beach, then set off on fishing and sailing trips from the harbour. Boat tours are also to be had from Tenby to Caldey Island between Easter and October for visits to the Cistercian abbey (and some seal spotting enroute). Grownups sans nippers to niggle at them like to laze by the water in Tenby or wander from Saundersfoot to Wiseman’s Bridge along the Wales Coast Path before settling down in the latter village’s sea-facing beer garden with a bottle of wine. And for more family-friendly things to do? One of the most popular attractions in the area, Oakwood Theme Park –with its rattling wooden Megafobia rollercoaster and splash-worthy Hydro ride – is a 15-minute drive away.
