  • Spacious family-run park with sea views over St Brides Bay
  • A mile from Newgale beach for surfing and other watersports
  • Farm shop on site; pub 20 minutes' walk away
Surfing, hiking, horse riding, coasteering, wildlife spotting… if it’s fresh-air frolics you’re after, the Pembrokeshire coast is a pretty fab pick. And if sea-view sunsets would top that all off nicely, you’ll settle in well at Rainbolts Hill Farm. From this family-run four-acre site there are stunning views out over St Brides Bay, best taken in at the end of the day as the sun dips below the horizon… Naturally, that’s a fab time to crack open a beer and sizzle a few sausages too; barbies are welcome here and there's a farm shop on site selling top-notch local food and craft beers. For more supplies, decent-sized supermarkets are 10 minutes' drive away in Haverfordwest. Welsh weather not all that warm? Cosy up at the cracking country pub 15 minutes' stroll away. Having seen the sea from the site, you’ll no doubt want to take a closer look, and this is a fine location to do so. A 20-minute ramble will take you to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, and the beaches of Newgale, Nolton Haven and Broad Haven are all under 15 minutes away by car. Turn and face inland and you’ll be looking at the Preseli Hills, also a fine place for a scenic hike. However you’ve spent your day, back at base you’ll be staying at a peaceful place (no parties, please) with heaps of space to chill out, as well as top-notch heated bathroom blocks (ladies' and gents', with toilets and showers) to keep everyone spruced up.

What customers say

Tidy, roomy, and well-kept site with top staff. Great facilities, handy shop, and cracking views. Perfect base for beaches and sights. Mostly quiet, but some road/wind noise. Shower fees and busy-period toilet queues are small niggles. Many keen to come back.

Liked Levelled ground. Clean toilet

Disliked Shower pay as you go system is a joke. Total stress. You pay £1 for 10 min, start the clock, go to shower room, take off clothing and 5 min gone if you fast. Also quite noisy place due to intensive traffic on the main road near by during the day and night.

From the manager: Thank you for your candid feedback. Your feedback proves one thing.... you didn't read the campsite listing before you booked. We clearly advertise that showers are "chargeable" so guests are not disappointed or surprised upon arrival and stay. Charging for showers is commonplace and an approach adopted by several (not all) nearby campsites to a.) reduce waiting times and queuing for showers and b.) conserve water, a precious commodity. 5 mins to get undressed? wow....

Liked Site was very quiet but very clean, we were able to come and go as we pleased. We had our dog with us and they were very laid back about her being onsite. She was able to follow us around and lay by our caravan with having to be on lead.
The owners were friendly and kept to themselves.
The site is about 10 mins from the local town so very easy to get to.

Disliked Wasn’t able to connect to the WiFi but I’m sure they would have helped if we had mentioned it.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked Friendly staff, clean and warm toilets and really good views. Dog friendly. Decent shop.

Disliked I wish this site and other British campsites had more trees/bushes on them and perhaps a touch more landscaping like they tend to have in France, Germany, Holland and other countries I have stayed in. Trees and bushes would beautify the place, give more habitat for nature and might help to reduce the howling wind on the top site.

Local attractions

Watersports on your Welsh wishlist? Bring your surfboard to Newgale beach to join the regulars, or hire kit if you’re travelling light. Those who haven’t quite mastered the art yet can sign up for surf and kitesurfing lessons here, or join sea kayaking, paddleboarding or coasteering tours. If you're after something a little more leisurely, the family-friendly sands of Broad Haven beach are about 15 minutes’ drive away, or you could don your boots for a ramble along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Pony rides, lessons and beach or country canters are all on the menu at the local riding stables, 10 minutes away. St Davids, 20 minutes away, is worth a jaunt too: the UK’s smallest city is famed for its cathedral and independent shops, and it’s also the meeting point for boat trips to spot wildlife around Skomer and Ramsey islands (bring the binoculars and keep the peepers peeled for puffins and dolphins).
