  • Eco-friendly, small-scale site in the Pembrokeshire countryside
  • A 10-minute drive from Amroth and its beach; Saundersfoot 15 minutes
  • Free-range hens, guinea fowl and tame sheep; on-site nature walk
Are you all about the countryside? A dyed-in-the-wool fan of outdoor life? Then take a closer look at Green Sheep Camping, a friendly wildlife haven near the village of Amroth, that's located within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and a little over a mile from the Wales Coast Path. This site is a member of the Greener Camping Club and is committed to keeping things small, eco-friendly and sustainable. There's a maximum of 12 parties on site at any one time, each of which has access to their own firepit. There's also a large weatherproof converted dairy barn where you can play games of table tennis and skittles, as well as eating meals out of the way of the elements if required. Other facilities on site include well-kept flushing toilets and warm showers. There are also quite a few animals on site, including free-range chickens, guinea fowl and friendly rare-breed Wiltshire Horn sheep. At certain times kids may have the chance to interact with some of the farm's tamer permanent residents. Non-domesticated nature also thrives here: walk through the site's wildflower meadow or in its mossy oak woodland down to the stream at the bottom of the valley and you'll likely see lots of inspiring plant and animal life. There's plenty of room on the campsite for energetic kids as well: den-building, playing on swings, running in the fields and using scooters on the farmyard are all options.

What customers say

Green Sheep Camping: peaceful countryside escape, spacious pitches, coastal proximity. Hosts Theri & Tom praised for warmth, local tips. Great family facilities (games barn, trails). Mostly spotless, though a few toilet/shower location/size comments. Animal feeding a hit, ecological focus appreciated.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Great reception from Terri the host who was really friendly and helpful. Pitch was away from everyone, really quiet. Felt like we were on our own. Lots of stuff to do in the barn if it rains. Kitchen to make a cup of tea a lot quicker than a camping stove!

Disliked But of a trek to the pub but ok if you expect it

Buzzard powered concrete and grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked Wonderful warm welcome from Theri and Tom, and a beautiful countryside campsite equipped with all you could need. Theri and Tom are generous with their space, providing a snug (where you can use a wood burner), a barn with tables for eating (and a range of games), several washing up sinks, and nature routes across the site. Hot showers and toilets were clean and worked well. Love the green and rewilding ethos underlying the campsite too! An environmentalist' ideal campsite. P.S we loved seeing the sheep!

From the manager: Thank you so much for your review, Hannah, and for being so respectful and understanding of what we're trying to do at our campsite. Thank you too for giving a plug for our friendly, renaturing, green sheep! Have a wonderful summer - hopefully with more camping trips. Welcome back to our campsite anytime! Kind regards - Theri and Tom

Buzzard powered concrete and grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked Big pitches located away from each other
Love the barn and all the toys and activities for the kids
Great location
Fab hosts

Disliked Men had to use a portaloo which was unpleasant when you expect good facilities
Showers are a squeeze
Pitch was not level

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review Dani and for camping with us. We're glad you loved the barn and enjoyed seeing your kids zooming around the yard on our scooters. Apologies about the portaloo for the men. I'm not sure whether we'd explained that this loo were a temporary measure because we had experienced an issue with water onsite. Before your family arrived, a water pipe had burst outside our neighbour's house which meant we had hired in the portaloo. It seemed sensible to keep the portaloo for longer, as a precaution. Happy camping with your family on future holidays. Kind regards - Theri

Barn Owl powered concrete slab caravan site

Liked This is a great site in a lovely location. Only one hardstanding pitch, tucked away with a lovely view. Pitches were very spaced out. Great set up with a games barn plus a snug and all the amenities you could need. Lots of local knowledge provided. About 20 min walk to Amroth beach although it's a steep walk back up in places. We cycled to both Saundersfoot and Pendine Sands (be warned, very hilly!), c40-50 mins, all very picturesque. Paid the extra to be green camping members (required) but still price comparable and gives access to other sites for the rest of the year. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Welcome back anytime! Kind regards - Theri

Local attractions

Amroth, a seaside village with a brilliant beach, is about a 10-minute drive away, while journeys over to ever-popular beach resort of Saundersfoot will take you about a quarter of an hour. Inland, the pretty little market town of Narberth (15 minutes away) has handy amenities like a supermarket, cafés and pubs, plus a swimming pool for exercise and medieval castle ruins to explore. Also nearby, you have relaxing green spaces like Colby Woodland Gardens (five minutes) or the National Botanic Garden of Wales (45 minutes), lively kid-pleasing options like Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (10 minutes) and great seaside spots such as Tenby (25 minutes), Manorbier (25 minutes) and Laugharne (20 minutes), home to the Dylan Thomas Boat House, one of the poet’s favourite haunts. A little bit further afield, you could head to the pint-sized city of St Davids (about an hour) to visit its cathedral and tiny harbour or to set out on boat trips to Skomer Island, an offshore nature reserve home to a thriving community of puffins and other seabirds.
