  • Peaceful CAMC members-only site a five-minute drive from Pencader
  • New Quay 35 minutes’ drive; Folly Farm Adventure Park 45 minutes
  • Dogs welcome; next to a four-acre field for walking; countryside views
Members of the Caravan and Motorhome Club planning to visit south-west Wales can book a spot at The Park at Caeaugwynion Certificated Location. In a smashing position between Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion, the peaceful site is a grand place for sightseeing; it is also terraced, so it has splendid views out over the countryside. Accessible via a private driveway, The Park sits next to a four-acre field for walking, exercising your dog, playing games or going for a morning jog. Local footpaths can be accessed straight from the site (although you might need to walk along the road at some points if you’re after a circular route), and many more great walks can be found a short drive from the site. If you’re here to explore, check out the area’s multiple beaches – there are several along the Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion coasts, including New Quay (35 minutes’ drive) – or you can set off to the Brechfa Forest (15 minutes) for woodland ambles and mountain-biking trails. As for eats, there are plenty of pubs and restaurants within a five-mile radius. In addition, there are three small shops in Pencader (five minutes), while Carmarthen (20 minutes) has supermarkets, high-street stores and a mix of chain food outlets and fine-dining spots. The park has general waste and recycling points and a washing-up area.

Liked Lovely quiet site with large well spaced pitches. Well maintained grounds surrounded by fields and working farm where help and support is available from the welcoming owners. Enjoyed our stay which could well be our favourite and future goto site for this area.

From the manager: Thankyou for your review it was lovely to meet you hope to see you again soon

The Shack microlodge

Liked The shack was cosy and very well equipped. We were alone on the campsite so had all the facilities to ourselves! Friendly and helpful owners. Perfect place for a chill out.

Disliked Nothing really. Maybe proper glasses would be good, one of the plastic wine glasses were a bit melted and deformed so we were swigging out of plastic tumblers!

Lovely place for a stop-over

Local attractions

The National Botanic Garden of Wales (half an hour’s drive) is anchored by a futuristic glass dome sheltering plants from Mediterranean climes. Also on site are an area with medicinal herbs, a bee-friendly zone and a Japanese-style garden. Children can join a pond-dipping session to learn more about dragonflies and newts. There are two beaches in New Quay (35 minutes) (including a dog-friendly stretch), plus a curved fishing pier that shelters a small marina. In addition to having informative panels, the Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre runs boat tours to see dolphins and colonies of breeding seabirds. Residents at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (45 minutes) range from African big cats to penguins, not forgetting the farmyard animals, whom you can feed and cuddle. There are also vintage rides, including a giant Ferris wheel, as well as outdoor pirate-themed play areas.
