Spacious pitches with cooking shelter & compost loo
Bell tent in the sun
Sunset over bell tent
Camping meadow

  • Family-friendly Carmarthenshire site under a mile from Marros Sands
  • In the grounds of a riding centre; 15 minutes' drive to Folly Farm
  • Games area, cooking shelters, picnic tables and firepits on site
Pick your plot in the six-acre meadow at Horseshoe Camping… at this family-friendly site, you’ll be next door to a horse riding centre for peaceful countryside treks and within walking distance of several sandy beaches primed for rummaging through rockpools, kicking around a ball or paddles around the shore. Surrounded by a large strip of woodlands, there’s much exploring to be done around the site too (or coastal paths for when you want to tick off the nearby coves). How to spend your downtime on site? Well, perhaps you’ll want to spy on horses in the neighbouring fields or let yourself unwind beside a firepit when the sun goes down. Each pitch comes with its own firepit, composting toilet and cooking shelter to help you come up with some new cooking concoctions. When the food’s ready, there’s a picnic table to dig in. As for other facilities around the site, there's a climbing frame, a shared space with a fridge and freezer, phone charging points and a washing-up area. If a meal out is calling your name, the nearest pub is a two-minute drive and there are plenty more restaurants and pubs beside the sea within five minutes’ drive, either beside the beach at Marros Sands or in the Pendine coastal town (a good place to source any food bits you need from the shops).

What customers say

Great campsite! Praised for clean, individual composting toilets & picnic shelters. Generous, private pitches. Families loved the play area & football pitch. Bell tents a hit, honesty hut popular. Peaceful vibe, near beaches. Wish for more local produce & better host contact.

Clydesdale bell tent (no electricity)

Liked Loved everything 💓
2 hours into arriving back home and IV booked again to stay in July.
We stayed in the bell tent which was stunning spacious and very cosy.
The outside shelter to cook and eat was perfect especially as we can never rely on our Welsh weather. The park and football pitch was amazing for the kids.
Facilities were clean.
Honestly hut was brilliant along with the fridge and sockets.
Very quiet and relaxing.
Can't wait to come back hopefully this time we will have better weather

Disliked Nothing!!!

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Our second stay of the summer and the perfect way to end the school holidays. Took our own tent this time; the pitches are generous and flat, the covered picnic bench/ work top area gave us good covered outdoor space.
Love that each pitch has its own loo (no midnight treks to a communal block)
Loved getting the fire pit into action and toasting marshmallows.
Loved loosing the kids for full hours as they went to make friends in the play area!
Love the 5min drive to a day out on Pendine sands or for sundowners at the Amroth Arms.

Disliked Leaving!

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Great pitch including toilet, fire pit and benches and an undercover shelter area. Lovely size camp site.

We liked the style of camp site and the fact it wasn’t busy and loud. Great without cars and closed gate for the children to run free.

Self check in and out works great too.

Clean showers, honesty but we loved with fridges and phone charging points. We will definitely be back!!

Disliked It’s not a dislike but we would have liked more local produce in the honesty hut, like eggs/cakes etc.

Also not a dislike but the lights around the showers and honesty hut didn’t work in the evening.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked I liked how the campsite was set up everything was easily accessible and the free playing area in the middle to watch the children was great.
The shelters really come in handy due to typical welsh weather.
It was mine and my friends first time camping with our children and it went with ease.
Lotti was very easy to get hold of and welcoming and helpful.
We really enjoyed our stay and will be back for sure.

Disliked The weather it was very winding but that cant be helped.

Clydesdale bell tent (no electricity)

Liked We stayed in the Belltent, spacious and clean.
Lovely undercover picnic area with gas stove and all cooking equipment, and cutlery. Washing line & pegs.
Nice own firepit area and own compost toilet. Clean with fresh sawdust and
toilet rolls, also handgel.
No electrics in the tent, but lightning with pretty string lights solar light.
Grassed area maintained and areas very clear.
Nice play area for youngsters.
A nice stay in a nice quiet area with good spaces between pitches and not overcrowded.

Communal washing area all provided and phone charging points.

Disliked It was very cold at night in the Belltent due to our unfortunate bad weather in the middle of Aug. Huge winds and storm.
I'm sure it's usually warm enough and blankets were added on the beds too.
It didn't spoil our stay tho.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Everything… such a well thought out site. Large pitches, fabulous shelter with picnic table, hanging line, shelf and bins to sort your re-cycling and rubbish. A clean compost toilet and a fire pit with benches to sit on at every pitch. The showers were large with a sink in the same room, and a hook and chair to hang your stuff. Our daughter loved the central play area and space to play ball. We also ventured next door for the horse riding, and the staff were so friendly and helpful, it was such a great fun to ride some of their beautiful horses. Marros Sands beach is well worth the 25-30 minute walk, gorgeous views on the way down. Finally, the site is about a 25 minute drive from Tenby, which is one of my favourite towns with another gorgeous beach and a fort. Perfect camping holiday.

Disliked We had some serious rain which is obviously the accepted risk when you book camping. But it didn’t manage to ruin our enjoyment because the site was so great. And when the sun is out, it’s just heaven.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Lottie and Matt offer an absolute family haven. As mums of two active seven year olds the site was perfect. Friendly, safe, natural, and private. The facilities were pristine, and we loved the private pitches surrounded by long grasses where we spotted butterflies and ladybugs, dragonflies, and felt secluded enough to be private but the layout of the site also enabled us to watch our children and allow them some freedom and independence. We loved the eco friendly site with incredible recycling facilities, and our own compost toilet on the pitch, an absolute winner with children, being so close, but also valuable lessons in hygiene and sustainability. Honestly, the best campsite I’ve visited, and I’ve been to many! Tranquil, peaceful, friendly, close to some beautiful beaches. The outdoor hut and picnic bench made our outdoor cooking and meal prep so relaxed and easy. Would highly recommend this site and big thanks to Lottie for coming round and saying welcome. We will be back!

Disliked Absolutely nothing to dislike. The perfect site.

Clydesdale bell tent (no electricity)

Liked Everything is just so well considered and beautifully done.
Good showers, a loo per pitch, a shelter per pitch, and a good little play area (swing tennis our family favourite).
We stayed in the Bell tent-what a camping luxury! A massive hit with the whole family.

Short drive to various beaches, spent a day out in Tenby and hours at the rock pools in Pendine.

Disliked While the rest of the country finally had a sunny weekend, we were covered in fog and soaked in rain.

(Not strictly the site's fault..!)

We loved the site even in this weather though so we can't wait to come back in proper summer!!

Local attractions

How to dally away your day? With trots from Marros Riding Centre (five minutes’ walk) or putting down roots on the sheltered Marros Sands (five minutes’ drive)? Sliding around the sand dunes or scouting out rock pools at Morfa Bychan (10 minutes) or watersports down Amroth Beach (10 minutes)? The coast doesn’t end there… there’s the beachfront in Laugharne (15 minutes), dunes and a sandy beach at Pendine Sands (15 minutes) and all the life in Tenby (25 minutes), from the harbour and beaches to fishing activities. While you’re in Wales, it’s only right that you see where one famed Welsh poet’s words were written. Perhaps you’ll find inspiration for your own at the Dylan Thomas Boathouse and Café (15 minutes). Or maybe you’d like to imagine you’re defending the mighty medieval Laugharne Castle (15 minutes). There’s a different kind of escape into the heritage woodlands at the National Trust’s Colby Woodland Garden (10 minutes) and again at the Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (15 minutes) where the farm-themed rides will take the kids on a spin.
