  • Award-winning site in the small Carmarthenshire village of Cenarth
  • A 15-minute drive from the coast; 45 minutes from Oakwood theme park
  • Bar and restaurant on site, with a spa and pool for an additional fee
Waterfall walks, cheese appreciation, leaping salmon, bobbing about in a coracle… there are several reasons why folk would settle in the little Carmarthenshire village of Cenarth. And you can add to that mix the fine collection of facilities at Cenarth Falls Resort, an award-winning site 10 minutes’ walk from the village’s pubs, cafés and small supermarket. Many certificates of excellence have been bestowed upon this park over the years – even the toilet block has been the recipient of its own gong. Bring the kids along, though, and they won’t bat an eyelid at such things – they’ll most likely be rather too distracted by spending time at the play area or challenging pals in the games room. The on-site spa, bar and restaurant are some of the real highlights of this resort – it’s a place where you can settle with a drink in the comfy bar or pay a little extra for access to the adjacent spa, which has an indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna and a gym. At some point, for more food perhaps, it’s worth heading over to the nearest town, Newcastle Emlyn, five minutes’ drive away, for self-catering supplies and/or a range of pubs, restaurants and takeaways.

Liked: The pitch was really big. Facilities - showers & toilets were clean, nice having music played. We booked into the spa - amazing! Brunch in Phat Forks afterwards - food was superb and staff were really lovely. Lovely little shop in reception with all you need. Receptionist really helpful. It’s a 10 minute walk into Cenarth.

Liked: Absolutely amazing campsite. Small and friendly and amazing restaurant and pool and spa. Situated in a beautiful part of West Wales. We will be returning again and again and again

Disliked: Hard ground pitch but it was our fault for not being more organised. Would recommend taking a ground sheet for under tent to protect bottom of tent.

Liked: What’s not to like about this place. We stayed on touring pitches. Plenty of room and right near shower and toilet block (which were immaculately clean) no cost for showers. You can walk into Cenarth falls. We also drive into poppit sands and cardigan (bout 20mins) Launderette there too. £3 wash. Dryer takes 20p costs about £1 to dry a load. Gym/swimming/spa costs £7.20 to use for a couple of hours which I didn’t think was bad at all. Staff were lovely and helpful. And added bonus of the food in the bar being gorgeous. We ended up eating here both nights as it was so good. And once again staff in the bar/restaraunt were fantastic. We will be back. Thankyou.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Pool is lovely. £21 to swim for 1.5 hours disappointing. Amazing stretch and yoga class. Food really good.

Disliked: Pitches too close together. Feels like you’re in a car park. Restaurant not open Monday, Tuesday evening. The outside pool doesn’t exist! Fallen in to disrepair

Liked: Good location and friendly welcome from the Receptionist. The pitches were hardstanding and level. The facilities were regularly cleaned and were spotless. We were made aware of the Spa but unfortunately didn't get chance to use it. Nice walk to the Falls.

Disliked: These are observations (rather than being critical) and didn't detract from enjoying our stay. It was August and School holidays so site was virtually full. The pitches felt a little cramped with no spare space to walk a dog or for a child to run around without encroaching on other pitches. There were not many toilets and showers for the amount of pitches and showers could be quite cold. I'm sure at less busy times this would not be an issue.

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: It is a small tent pitch area BUT there's only one disabled toilet that included a shower. One separate toilet and one separate shower in the men's . This was an issue in the mornings having to go back and forth to see if any was available. The bathrooms were only cleaned once as far as I'm concerned. Not enough light by the basins to wash your dishes. Constantly having to go to daylight to see if your dishes are clean. And REMEMBER to read small print "small extra changes to use the swimming pool' which was £7.50 per person. We were 4 so that would would have gotten expensive over 4 days. We decided not to pay for this and stayed off the site longer. Also remember to buy extra HEAVY DUTY TENT PEGS. Their ground is extra hard standing. The campsite bins were overflowing by day three.

Local attractions

You’ll want to start with a stroll around Cenarth, of course – those waterfalls are a 10-minute walk away, and the Teifi river is an excellent place for an amble, particularly when the salmon are jumping in late summer. It’s worth stopping in at the village’s National Coracle Centre to learn a bit about the traditional round boats, and taking the 10-minute drive to Caws Cenarth to sample the tasty local cheese. Cenarth’s also a handy location for outings to the coast – try Cardigan (15 minutes’ drive) for dolphin-spotting trips, or Aberporth (20 minutes) for beach days – or walks in the Preseli Hills, around 15 minutes away by car. Cilgerran Castle (15 minutes), the National Trust estate at Llanerchaeron (35 minutes) and the tiny city of St Davids (an hour) also make excellent days out. And if you’ve got the kids along, it’s quite possible (and reasonable) that they’ll be keen to add to the schedule days at Oakwood theme park and meeting the only giraffes in Wales at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (both around 45 minutes’ drive).
