The camping is in the front garden of the hostel overlooking a field which generally has loads of sheep in, as a camper you have use of the hostel facilities (cooking/washing etc) and there is a limited amount of food for sale. If you are desperate or you know you will be arriving without phone Paul hostel manager on 07576431960 & he might be able to arrange to get food to the hostel. There is a very secure bike shed on site and there are bikes for hire from the hostel. Childrens bikes are free to use (by children round the hostel area)

From Brecon head A40 west to Trecastle, turn left toward Usk Reservoir, go over moor & mountain till you get to Red Kite pub, turn left follow very steep & windey lane & hostel is on right up the top of the lane If you are cycling or not so confident driving carry on past the Red Kite until you get to Tywnllanan turn left and then immediate left (signed to yha) and follow the lane for about 2 miles, yha is next to the church on left

The Black mountain is just behind the hostel & the walking of the beacons way is awesome, also nearby is the red kite feeding centre, carreg cennen castle, llandovery & llandeilo and the Towy valley. There is also NT Dinefwr, with its CADW castle, Drwslyn Castle (also CADW) and plenty of peaceful places to visit. Brecfa forest is relatively close as is Cilgwyn and plenty of excellent road routes. The closest sustrans routes are at Tumble
