Ty Du Farm is a quiet site on a Carmarthenshire farm just up the road from the village of Felinfoel and 10 minutes’ drive from Llanelli. Carmarthen and Swansea are both less than half an hour away by car, and you can also get out for day trips to the Brecon Beacons, Gower Peninsula and Pembrokeshire coast from here. Getting in, out and all around should be fairly easy: it’s a 10-minute drive from Junction 48 of the M4, and next to a cycle path that makes for easy rides or walks in the local area. Follow it along to Furnace Pond or Swiss Valley Reservoir for fishing, or head south to nearby beaches such as Llanelli, Burry Port and Pembrey. The farm is a good place to spot wildlife, including woodpeckers in the trees and red kites flying overhead. You can also see sheep and lambs frolicking in the next-door field, while horses meander through long grass. Piglets Peppa and Georgie make an appearance on a lead when they are willing, as well. The farm’s animals are friendly and inquisitive, always welcoming interaction – excellent news for visiting kids (please note no dogs allowed on site, though). It’s all been set up here to make the most of the natural setting: the camping field is kept car-free for safety, and kids can also roam the woods to collect wood for the firepit and maybe climb a tree or two. Each pitch has a campfire area and picnic table – handy for evenings of stargazing in an area of little light pollution. Facilities on site include hot showers, hair dryers and a washing-up area, plus separate flushing toilets and a lockable cupboard where you can charge a mobile device.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Perfect place to stay as a family, grandparents had a pod and we could camp in our tent opposite.

Disliked: The field was very very muddy due to the amount of rain,

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: We stayed here for four nights. When we arrived, it was raining heavily and although we were booked to use our tents, Tina very kindly offered us one of the available glamping Teepee tents for a drier experience with no extra charge. Also on our last day, since we arrived by train and the weather wasn't looking good, Mark offered us a lift back to the train station. As well as the superb accommodating hosts, what we loved about this campsite was that we could have our own campfires and each pitch is provided with a picnic bench, so there is no need to bring tables and chairs. Logs for fires are available to purchase on site. There was only one other group there so it felt very quite and peaceful. Toilets and showers were clean and plenty of hot water on tap. The nearest shop is the Co-Op in Felinfoel which is a short walk away and there are various pubs/takeaways nearby. We walked to the Stradley Arms one evening along the footpath which takes you past a tranquil pond. Anyone looking for a quite/peaceful camp, I would recommend Ty Du Farm! I look forward to visiting again.

Camping pod

Liked: The pod was beautiful, not too hot and not too cold. The bed was so comfortable! The site was lit up with fairy lights on the pods which were very cute! And each pitch had there own fire pit! It's was honestly amazing.

Touareg rental tent (four person)

Liked: Quiet site with roomy pitch, tent was set up beautifully with a log burner inside and a fire pit outside. Little touches ie marshmallows and skewers for the camp fire were great. We will be back again soon.

Disliked: Nothing
