  • Small, rural and no-smoking site a couple miles from the coast
  • Basic facilities; a five-minute drive to Llansteffan beach and castle
  • Bar on site with occasional live music/food nights on weekends
Walks in west Wales and pet-friendly stays in a peaceful country setting… what a lovely location is Laugharne View Caravan Site, a strict no-smoking site. Bringing a dog along or not, this park on a working smallholding has spectacular views over the Taf estuary and Caldey Island, so it’s a first-rate place for a break soaking up the Carmarthenshire scenery. With paths to ply all around, it’s also a splendid spot for walks that should appeal to those on four legs or two – it’s possible to potter over to Llansteffan, a couple of miles away, directly from the park for visits to a wide sandy beach (make sure to check for seasonal restrictions if you're taking a dog) as well as a castle that dates back to the 12th century. From there, you might choose to extend your walk on the coast path or settle on the beach to fish for flounders and bass. More interested in strolls that result in supper? A pub is within a five-minute walk, and the eateries of Carmarthen – the oldest town in Wales – are just over 20 minutes away by car. If you've got a bit more time in town, ride on the antique Gwili Steam Railway into the hinterlands of the country or stay in Carmarthen to browse the boutiques. If you’re firmly sticking to country pursuits, stay on site to peer at the chickens on the farm, take the dog for a run around the spacious grounds, or set up a camping chair and use the wifi to help build tomorrow’s itinerary. You might also like to pick up a couple of drinks from the site's Hayday bar to complete the picture… The basic amenities at Laugharne View Caravan Site include a toilet block and a basic shower block. Please note that there is a non-smoking (and no vaping in family areas) policy in place at this site and that some parts of the site are adults-only.

Viewside powered concrete and grass caravan site (adults only)

Liked A lovely site in a beautiful spot with stunning views. Immaculately looked after. Lovely hot shower and clean and spacious shower room. Hosts incredibly welcoming and the adjoining indoor/outdoor bar was a perfect addition allowing us to relax and watch the sun go down on Saturday evening. Brilliant for dogs, lots of open field space away from other guests for off lead ball games and a good run about. We enjoyed the suggested round trip walk down to the bay incorporating the coast path and castle and nearby village with tearooms and little village stores selling lovely coffee. About 4 hours walk in total. We will definitely return and would highly recommend.

Viewside powered concrete and grass caravan site (adults only)

Liked We stayed for a one night stopover between The Gower and St Davids in a motorhome. Its a small, peaceful site with beautiful views and we had a viewside pitch with hardstanding and EHU. With those amazing views obviously comes the possibility of exposure to bad weather and when we arrived it was gale force winds and drizzle. However the wind didn't actually affect the MH too much as it was facing nose into the wind and by the evening it had calmed down and we had a very peaceful night. The pitch was level and not too far from the toilet block that I found to be spotless.
We had a leisurely stroll into the village for a pub dinner which was excellent and the pub is also dog friendly. It was also surprisingly busy for a Tuesday evening. Sadly the bar at Laugharne View wasn't open as it was Tuesday, but it looked to be in the perfect position if you happended to be there at the weekend.
I went for a lovely walk with the dog around the fields the next morning and really enjoyed the freedom and tranquility. We would be happy to stay longer than 1 night if in the area again.

Liked Pricing Electric Hook Up & Clean Toilets.

Disliked In the middle of nowhere with nothing to do, we spent more on fuel traveling to beaches / towns etc would have been easier paying more for a site nearer to everything with lots more to do, we booked for a week and left after 4 days. The views are nice and would be ideal for people who just sit outside their tents all day relaxing / reading a book, the toilet block is small and over a dark field away from the tents so take a torch.

From the manager: Thank you for your review Richard. We'd like to clarify a few points for the benefit of future guests.

We're glad you found our facilities clean and tidy - which makes it surprising that we received such a low score for our facilities (which we do clearly state as basic). Likewise, we're unsure why our customer service rating was marked down, as you were personally welcomed on arrival.

You also rated us low on child friendliness - which is misleading.

Concerns raised about the site layout and location refer to features that are clearly state before booking, including:

- The distance to facilities - we clearly state the camping area is over 150m from facilities
- The darkness of the site - we do state that some areas of the site are unlit and will require a torch. It does make it awesome for star gazing though!
- Our peaceful, rural setting, fully described and clearly visible in the area maps

This information is provided to help guests make informed choices. A little more time reviewing it may have prevented this booking mismatch.

We're aware that the weather during your stay was particularly poor, and we hope that didn't play a part in your early departure.

We remain committed to offering a well-run, respectful site for guests who value space, nature, and clear expectations.

Thanks for taking the time to review. As we grow, we find that past guests who have stated that they would not return are indeed returning . To ensure that you are not tempted by our low prices in the future, we have blocked you from any further bookings with us.

Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site

Liked Just stayed here for 8 nights , and want a clean site , with a great view then this is a site for you . We were on one of the fully serviced hard standing pitches . Fir and sat night they open an onsite bar with occasional entertainment (freddie mercury this time) . There are plenty of dog walking fields around ,with a dog friendly pub within 5 mins walk .
Please read the owners directions for approaching the site . Our caravan is 8ft wide and 8 mtrs in length ,we got to and from the site no worries . Just take your time coming through the village and on the approach roads.

Local attractions

While Laugharne’s visible from the park, it’s a 25-minute drive away around the estuary to this pretty village famed for its castle and poet Dylan Thomas’ writing shed. For more of the area's history, National Trust attractions further away – like the Roman-era Dolaucothi Gold Mines (an hour’s drive) and the handsome house and park at Dinefwr (50 minutes) – should also feature on your to-do list. Also inland are many adventures, including the mountain biking trails of Brechfa Forest (55 minutes); swing back to the seaside and cycle more sedately along the Millennium Coastal Path if thrill-seeking on two wheels sounds a little bit too much for your tastes. Of course, you’re also never far from the coast in this part of Wales… Pembrey Country Park’s miles and miles of sandy beach are a 45-minute drive away, and the shorelines of the Gower Peninsula and Pembrokeshire are also less than an hour away.
