Portmeirion folly village

  • Tourer campsite in the grounds of Portmeirion village in Gwynedd
  • Harlech Beach 20 minutes’ drive and Zip World Llechwedd 25 minutes
  • Hardstanding pitches with electric hook-ups and drinking water
Now here’s a rare chance to see Gwynedd’s Italianate folly of Portmeirion out of hours and without the crowds. Book an overnight stay at Portmeirion Motorhome Park and your pitch price includes entry into the village itself – and as an added bonus, you also get complementary use of the heated outdoor swimming pool. And while you’re there, make the most of the village’s numerous other attractions too: go shopping for patterned Portmeirion pottery, or choose between fine-dining restaurants and cafés selling regional produce to stave off any hunger pangs. If you’re in the mood from some soothing R&R, your best bet is to book a rejuvenating treatment at the village’s luxury spa. But back to those tourer pitches. Sitting on the edge of Eryri National Park (formerly Snowdonia), the motorhome park is sheltered by trees and planted with colourful hydrangeas. The hardstanding pitches are all serviced with drinking water and an electric hook-up, and can cater for all sizes of motorhomes and campervans. A pristine shower block available for guest use also has amenities for the mobility impaired.

Liked: Fab sized pitch 17 with a picnic table, excellent facilities, heated shower and toilet block, well organised waste disposal, peaceful site with lots of wildlife. Access into the village was a 5 minute walk. Excellent value for money.

Disliked: Could do with an individual seat in the showers as they are a fab size, would make it a bit easier to get dressed.

Liked: Excellent site, fabulous facilities and great pitch. Really close to the entrance for Portmeirion Village and could be in there whenever you wanted. We had dinner at the hotel in the village and although expensive it was a wonderful experience. The next morning we moved our motorhome to park in the car park and spent another lovely morning wondering around the village. The cost of the site is great when you consider that it includes admission to the village for 2 days and use of the swimming pool at the hotel

Liked: Flat, quiet, obviously very handy for Portmeirion village and very good value because admission (usually £20 each) is included in the pitch fee. Limited facilities but very clean.

Disliked: Lots of rules, no ball games for example- and no grass ... not very attractive but you're not there for the view!

Liked: Perfect spot to explore the village and managed to go in late to explore it with hardly anyone there. Excellent showers and toilets, very clean and had everything we needed. Very peaceful in the evening. Went back into the village the next morning after we moved our campervan to the car park.
