  • Bell tent nicely situated in a corner of a meadow on a working farm
  • Five minutes’ drive from the seaside town of Tywyn; pub 2 mins' walk
  • Exclusive use of kitchen shed, shower hut and barbecue/outdoor space
Snuggle down for a stay in the Snowdonia National Park at Pant Coch Glamping, just on the edge of the busy little village of Bryncrug and five minutes’ drive from the seaside town of Tywyn. If you like to have a whole swathe of space all to yourselves, this could well be the place for you: there’s just the one bell tent here, in a corner of a meadow within a working farm. That means there’s no need to share any facilities at all – the well-equipped kitchen shed, the shower hut (with plenty of gas-powered hot water), the chemical toilet shed… all reserved for you to use whenever you like. Along with those undercover facilities, there’s also a good chunk of outdoor space allocated to guests, with outdoor seating and table, a charcoal barbecue and a stack of wood with which to build a campfire for chilly evenings. Getting out and about should be a cinch from here, as the site’s just off the A493. Active types might like to use that nifty location as a base for rambles on the coast path, watersports, horse riding, mountain biking or clambering up Cadair Idris (which you can spy from the tent on a fine day). If that all sounds a bit much, opt instead for fishing, narrow-gauge railway rides, beach days or the very gentle two-minute amble to the local pub for dinner.

Local attractions

Ready for a ramble? The tent’s just next to a public footpath for local wanders, and around an hour’s walk from the Wales Coast Path. If it’s uphill climbs that get you going, try rocky Craig yr Aderyn (10 minutes’ drive) or Cadair Idris (half an hour). Wherever you wander, keep eyes peeled for wildlife: dolphins and seals out at sea, hares and otters at ground level and red kites and ospreys overhead. For more activity, try out the golf course and watersports in Aberdovey (10 minutes) or saddle up to ride from Bwlchgwyn Farm (20 minutes). Or leave the effort to others and get yourselves into the crowd at Tonfanau motorbike racing circuit (10 minutes). Time to take it easy? There’s a lovely long sandy beach in Tywyn (five minutes), along with train rides on the steam-powered Talyllyn Railway, the world’s oldest preserved narrow-gauge railway. Anglers can pick from salmon and sea trout fishing in the Dysynni river, a couple of minutes’ drive away, seeking brown trout in the Tal-y-llyn lake (15 minutes) or heading out to sea on a boat from Aberdovey.
