  • Friendly family-run site on a working farm, four miles from Abersoch
  • A short footpath from the site leads directly to Llanbedrog beach
  • Shop, pub, beach bar and bus stop within an easy 15 minutes’ walk
Fancy a farm stay, beach holiday and luxury glamping all in one? If these tick your holiday boxes (as they very well might), Crugan Farm could be your next destination on the south coast of the Llŷn Peninsula, just four miles from Abersoch and the market town of Pwllheli. This romantic or family-friendly retreat is a getaway without the effort, meaning loads more time to explore and enjoy this part of North Wales… start with a wander down to the local Llanbedrog beach for a swim or sandcastle building featuring bright beach huts (a five to 10 minutes’ jaunt across the field) or perhaps an equally adventurous day helping out on the farm with your wellies on and sleeves rolled up. When you arrive, you’ll be treated to some fresh farm produce and a starter pack containing wood for the firepits and barbecues that are already on hand for alfresco cooking sessions. Handily, a garage and supermarket supplies are just 15 minutes’ walk away in the village of Llanbedrog (along with pubs and restaurants if you’re in need of some more immediate munchies). With only a handful of guests on site at any one time, there’s plenty of space to chill out here, take in the country views while the daylight lasts and, as darkness falls, turn your eyes to the starry skies.

BwlchCoch bell tent

Liked: We booked the tipi last minute and I'm so glad we did check in was smooth the tipi itself was amazing we had a bottle of bubbly waiting for us along with some local crisp and popcorn. Double bed 2 singles (proper matress) a sofa fridge TV proper glamping! We camp in a tent normally so this was luxury for us we had a 16month old and 3year old and they could run around and the donkey pig sheep horses would greet us every morning lovely space outside with picnic table! Would definitely return and recommend for young families. A short stroll across to the beach ir you can drive down and park up if you have lots of stuff. Nice fire pit/bbq gorgeous views toilet block with hot showers. There is a little park play area with swing slide and animals as it a working farm. So great for the kids. Fabulous stay thankyou.

Disliked: Not so much a dislike but they should mention the only cooking facility is the bbq outside we took our own camping cooker and used that and if we didn't have that our only option was the bbq one night it was a bit wet. Also mentions that wood would be supplied for first fire but we didn't have this but you could easily buy at the petrol station across the road.

Disliked: No option to cook, except for a bbq. Great for evening as its also a fire pit.

Penro cabin

Liked: Loved the bell tent. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and exceeded our expectations. It was great to find the welcome hamper which set up up for our stay and the BBQ was well used due to great weather. The log burner made our one night of rain and wind so cosy and inviting. The toilet and shower block was clean and available when needed. We loved the location, being able to walk to the beach and nearest village, which offered great food and outdoor dining. With so much choice of places to visit, we decided on Portmirrion, Canaefon Castle (loved the town), Snowdonia, Conwy and Bangor and enjoyed every visit, but soon realised that so many other places are to be discovered, such as Abersoch which we popped into on our last night for fish and chips - well worth a visit and only a 10 minute drive from the farm. Our five night stay was so worth the six hours to get there ; not to mention the stunning scenery, and the hosts made it so easy and care free - but always on hand when needed. We would highly recommend Crugan farm and hope to return to discover more hidden gems.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike at all.

Local attractions

Whether you’re keen on walking or just unwinding on the sand, you’ll be in the right location here. Trace your way around the Llŷn Peninsula on the coastal path, venture up to Tin Man (20 minutes’ walk) above Llanbedrog to see for yourself why this peninsula has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty… from this vantage point, you’ll see the spectacular Snowdonia mountain ranges in the distance (they’re less than an hour’s drive from the site too). Then, there are all the coves and headlands to tick off your wishlist, including the sheltered Abersoch (five minutes’ drive), peaceful Nefyn (15 minutes), surf-ready Traeth Porth Ceiriad (15 minutes) and Aberdaron Beach (half an hour) or the National Trust’s Porthor, also known as Whistling Sands (half an hour) due to the unique sound made when you step on the sand. Porthdinllaen (15 minutes), another National Trust stretch of coastline, is also within striking distance and a prime place for kayaking, swimming or snorkelling, followed by your drink of choice in the popular inn.
