What customers say

Friendly, well-kept spot with great modern loos and showers. Cafe's food is a hit! Owners and staff are super helpful. Fishing lakes well-stocked. Grass pitches can get a bit wet in rain. Handy for local sights.

Liked What a lovely site. Clean and tidy, the family who run it have only owned it for 3 months but are doing an amazing job. Showers and toilets clean, the breakfast was amazing and the lakes are well stocked. Nothing is too much for Dan and his partner. It's a real family affair. Location is also great

Liked Good fishing

Disliked Not very good very good toilets and showers and no shop

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: This traveller didn’t not read the site description when booked, we do not advertise that we have a shop on the grounds. Although we did help him out with some washing up liquid which he needed from the shop to help where we can.
Also Borrowed and never returned (STOLEN) glassware
Disabled toilet key again never returned after us asking for it back and advising him we only had 1 key. We now have to get a locksmith out to get new barrels.
Again shower were cleaned in the morning and deep cleaned at the end of the night.
This review is unacceptable as is his actions on site!

Liked Nice site. Well kept. Owners who have just taken over the site are lovely. Not a lot do nearby unless you drive or are willing to walk (which I love) Ewloe castle and wepre park are a must.

Cafe is nice, breakfasts are good quality. Maybe open in the evening as there is nothing within a 1 mile radius. The sausages they serve are the best!!

Didn’t bother me but the A55 is not too far so there is traffic noise but it was not an issue.

I think the only thing I would say is that the toilets and shower block are lovely but need a proper cleaning regime.

Also not a big thing but some sort of recycling for the rubbish would be good

Liked Stopped off for our first night in Wales. Was contacted by Dan on the way to confirm arrival time. When arrived, very friendly and welcoming with him and his daughter. The facilities were good, the breakfast blew me away. Highly recommend. It was a quiet site, easy to find and navigate around. I'd go back if in the area.

Local attractions

Looking for a dose of culture on your fishing break? Try the romantic ruins of 13th-century Ewloe Castle (10 minutes’ walk), with fantastic rural views from its parapet. Hilltop Hawarden Old Castle (10 minutes’ drive) played an important role in medieval border skirmishes and is sometimes open on summer weekends. Also worth a peek is Gladstone’s Library (five minutes), neo-Gothic reading rooms founded in 1898 and set in formal gardens. Cultured Chester (15 minutes) is a walled Roman city packed with history museums, galleries, shops and traditional half-timbered pubs. You can also take a boat trip down the River Dee and visit Chester Zoo, or hit Chester Racecourse (both 15 minutes) for horse racing and international polo matches in summer. Kids in tow? Head to Wepre Park (five minutes) for wooded walks to waterfalls, a skate park and a cracking playground for younger offspring. Families can hike off excess energy in Loggerheads Country Park (15 minutes), with lots of opportunities for river paddling and picnicking with views of Moel Famau (25 minutes), a popular hiking destination and the highest summit in the Clwydian Range.
