  • Quiet and well-kept adults-only site 10 minutes’ drive from St Asaph
  • Rhyl beach 20 minutes’ drive and Eryri National Park 35 minutes
  • Free fishing on site; communal summer house with cooking facilities
Tucked away on a private Denbighshire estate with far-reaching views over wooded countryside to the Clwydian Range in the Vale of Clwyd, adults-only Llannerch Glamping feels delightfully remote but is actually a handy 10 minutes’ drive from North Wales Expressway. That means there’s easy access to the site if you’re coming from England, while it’s also close to Eryri National Park (35 minutes’ drive) and Anglesey (45 minutes) when you’re planning days out. Facilities include separate male and female showers and loos at the corner of the camping field, a washing-up area with useful USB charging points and a shared summer house, where you have free use of the oven, hob, gas ring and kettle. Outside are a couple of picnic tables for soaking up the peace, and there are a few firepits scattered around if you fancy sparkling up a barbecue. It’s free to cast a few lines for carp on the well-stocked coarse fishing lake; and there are woodland walks on which to exercise any four-legged chums. There’s a farm shop five minutes away in the car, a small supermarket and pub in St Asaph (10 minutes’ drive), and several good restaurants or takeaways within about 20 minutes’ drive.

Unpowered grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked Great location, plenty of room, basic facilities but just what we needed. Sian and Steve were very welcoming and the homemade cakes in the evening were a lovely touch. Very relaxing and such a chilled vibe on site. We will definitely be back!

Unpowered grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked The campsite atmosphere was perfect, very relaxed. And the owners Sian and Steve were super nice, I even got a cupcake on arrival. I was traveling on my own and felt very safe and welcomed.

Disliked The only thing I’d say is the road in was full of potholes, but I’m not sure the campsite can do much about that.

Unpowered grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked Tentbox and dog friendly, with free fishing with the option of a fire pit. The owners were very polite and welcoming, even brought round cupcakes for all staying on the site which was a nice touch. Quiet and peaceful site, would definitely stay again.

Disliked Nothing to dislike, if I had to find a criticism, there is only one male and one female shower but that's being picky. Showers were powerful and nice and hot.

Unpowered grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked Quiet site, great facilities, just what we needed. Lots of space between pitches so site was full but did not feel crowed. Host was on hand if you needed anything and they are super helpful. Would stay there again, this is something we don't usually do as we like to try new places.

Unpowered grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked Wow! What an amazing place, so peaceful and beautiful. The dog walk was lovely and shaded for a hot summers day. The facilities were always clean, and if you had any issues with them the owners were always around to help.

I would like to especially mention how lovely Sian and Steve were! They were always out and about chatting to campers. To top off the whole bank holiday weekend, they gave out cupcakes to the campers on sight. What amazing people, I have never had such a warm welcome from owners.

Disliked We loved everything!!

Not necessarily a dislike but advice to future campers on busy weekends. the campsite only has two showers, one male, one female. Therefore on a busy bank holiday there can be a small wait for a shower.

Unpowered grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked Lovely welcome from the owners. Told us best places to go to eat in the local areas. Toilets and showers clean. Access to a fridge if needed. The communal kitchen with log burner oven is a brilliant idea. We sat in there on a cold evening playing cards! Tent pitches nice and flat, it had been raining before we arrived and despite this it was not muddy.

Disliked There’s very limited shower and toilet availability. We were ok at the time of year we went as there were only three couples on the site but not sure what it would be like if full.

From the manager: We are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay and hope that you were not offended when asked to pick up all the rubbish you left on your pitch before leaving or your non compliance with the recycling. Fortunately we have some lovely guests that obviously have a very different opinion of what we have to offer.

Local attractions

While anglers get stuck into carp fishing at the on-site pond, golfers can content themselves with a nine-hole course and crazy golf at the North Wales Golf Course and Driving Range (five minutes’ drive). If you fancy a hack through Vale of Clwyd woodland, there’s a riding school about the same distance away, and when a swim is in order, head for sandy North Wales beaches at Rhyl and Pensarn (both 20 minutes). You are close to hiking, climbing and mountain biking in the spectacular hills and valleys of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park (35 minutes’ drive), with Betws-y-Coed (45 minutes) a good starting point for strolls along the River Llugwy to the spectacular Swallow Falls. Hardier adventurers can try out the subterranean trampolines at Zip World Llechwedd (an hour), or brave the mile-long zipwires over former slate quarries at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (50 minutes). When a spot of retail therapy is required, Tweedmill Shopping Outlet (five minutes) has everything you could possibly need, from wellies and outdoor clothing to locally grown plants and shrubs to take home as souvenirs of your Welsh getaway.
