What customers say

A small, peaceful spot with lovely rural views. Guests rave about spotless facilities and warm showers. Owners are super friendly & helpful. Pitches are good, though some bits are a bit dated. Great for walks, but you'll need a car as it's remote. Highly recommended for a quiet getaway!

Liked Parc Pen y Bryn – A Hidden Welsh Retreat Worth Discovering

Tucked away among the rolling hills of the Welsh countryside, Parc Pen y Bryn is the kind of place you almost want to keep secret — a true rural gem where time seems to slow and the outside world fades away. For those craving quiet, panoramic views, and a break from the rush of daily life, this peaceful site offers the perfect escape.

From the moment we arrived, the welcome was as warm as the sunshine spilling over the fields. Rob, the host, is unlike any we’ve met in years of camping, caravanning, and glamping. Attentive without being intrusive, he takes real pride in every corner of the site and goes above and beyond to ensure guests are comfortable. When we purchased logs for our cabin’s fire, he personally delivered them in a cart to save us the heavy lift — a thoughtful gesture that sums up his approach to hospitality.

The facilities are a standout. Heated showers and restrooms — cleaned to an impeccable standard — make for a touch of luxury in a rural setting, and it’s clear every detail has been considered with guests in mind.

Then there’s the setting itself: breathtaking doesn’t quite cover it. Mornings begin with birdsong drifting across the hills, the air fresh and cool. Evenings are when the site truly shines — our cabin’s fire pit has become the heart of our stay, perfect for BBQs under the stars every night, the glow of the embers matching the glow of the sunset on the horizon. It’s these simple pleasures, combined with the sweeping views in every direction, that make you want to linger just a little longer.

We booked a seven-day staycation, it felt like we’ve found something rare. Parc Pen y Bryn is more than just a campsite — it’s a place where the pace of life slows, where nature surrounds you, and where a host’s dedication turns a great stay into a truly memorable one.

This is a site worth supporting as Rob continues to take it from strength to strength. For anyone seeking peace, scenery, and that warm feeling of being genuinely looked after, Parc Pen y Bryn should be top of your list.

Disliked If we had to mention any dislikes, it would only be the sadness of heading home, the task of emptying the cabin of all our gear, and wishing our stay was longer. Leaving such a peaceful, welcoming place behind is the hardest part — which is why we know we’ll be back, and sooner rather than later.

Local attractions

Llyn Brenig (15 minutes' drive) is likely to prove popular with experienced fishing fans – the trout here spend their whole life in cold Welsh water, so they're hardier than most and have something of a feisty reputation. There's also bike hire available and six varied lakeside trails to choose from. Betws-y-Coed (25 minutes) is a hub for train fans, who can contentedly chug along on the Conwy Valley narrow-gauge railway. (The mainline station also backs right onto a range of cafés, restaurants and shops, one of which is housed in a converted carriage.) A short walk outside the town are the Swallow Falls, where you can watch the Llugwy foaming over the rugged rocks. Want to use your time in north Wales to delve into the country's industrial past? The fably laid out (and free to enter) National Slate Museum (an hour) will be the one for you. While you're here, make sure to visit Clocaenog Forest (five minutes), where miles of walking and cycling trails are waiting to be explored. Peaceful woodlands, heather moorland, streams, waterfalls and lots of wildlife (including red squirrels, crossbills, black grouse and wild horses) are just some of the things to look out for here
