  • Pop-up meadow camping near Betws-y-Coed in Snowdonia National Park
  • A five-minute drive to Zip World Fforest; 20 minutes to Mount Snowdon
  • Simple grass pitches by the banks of the Conwy river; walks from site
The whole of North Wales’s Snowdonia National Park is easily accessed with a stay at Popcorn Camping Betws-y-Coed. This pop-up back-to-basics campsite is on a sheltered field by the Conwy river, with spectacular views towards steep hills covered with forest. Betws-y-Coed, a mile from the site, is the epicentre of Snowdonia National Park, and is an extremely popular gateway to mountain hiking routes, as well as cyclists who like a bit of a challenge on their daily biking route. A few rules and regs: pitches are allocated on arrival, so if you’re travelling with pals, you’ll always be able to camp as a group – but please remember that quiet time is from 10.30pm until 8am, to allow fellow guests to have a decent night’s sleep. Up to two dogs are allowed per pitch (on a leash please), and there’s secure parking off the camping field. Simple facilities include hot showers (great after a long day in the open air) and a washing-up area. Barbecues are allowed next to your tent as long as they are off the ground – pick up supplies in Betws-y-Coed or head for one of the village’s many pubs or cafés if you don’t fancy cooking. There’s also a communal campfire that you are welcome to cosy up around at any time.
