  • Rural site on a family-run working farm in Llandrinio
  • A 10-minute drive to Welshpool; 35 minutes to Lake Vyrnwy
  • Severn Way passes through the farm; local pub a few minutes' walk
Perhaps you’re planning a long-distance hike, or maybe you’re more of a leisure stroller… either way, Trinio Camping is in a most handy spot for all sorts of rural walks. This friendly family-run Mid Wales farm site is in the little village of Llandrinio, surrounded by gorgeous Powys countryside and with views up to Admiral Rodney’s Pillar and Breidden Hill. It’s a laidback place with pitches across several paddocks and simple facilities in the form of toilets, showers, chemical disposal and a washing-up area. Getting out to explore on foot could barely be easier, as the Offa’s Dyke Path is close by and the Severn Way passes right through the fields on site. If you’ve got other outdoor pursuits in mind, quad biking, golf, go karting, paintballing, horse riding, mountain biking and watersports are all nearby too, and there are plenty of fishing spots, castles, gardens and historic buildings around for those seeking a quieter time. Although this is a properly rural site, it’s not hidden away down lots of little winding lanes, so getting out and about should be straightforward. Having the A483 nearby means you can get to Welshpool in about 10 minutes and Oswestry in 15; heading over the border to Shrewsbury should take only a little longer at about 25 minutes. Closer to home, a few minutes’ walk will get you up to the village centre for a popular local pub and a well-stocked shop where you can pick up all the bits you need for a picnic or an evening by your barbecue.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Level field, well cut , plenty of space per pitch.
Toilets and showers clean.

Disliked No fridge. We were there on the hotest weekend. A fridge would have been very useful.

From the manager: We hope you enjoyed your stay & thank you for your feedback. At present, we don’t provide fridge facilities, most campers prefer to bring their own cool box & use our communal freezer to re-freeze their ice packs, but we will consider this option.

Liked Literally everything. Grounds are flat and exceptionally clean.

Facilities are if a very high standard and very clean.

Other campers at the time were friendly, polite and respectful of others and the standards of the site 😊

Disliked Nothing at all.

I've seen one of 2 complaints about noise from the nearby road.
But we found it to be no problem at all.

Liked Well laid out campsite with nice views. Very well positioned for launching our kayaks on the river Severn. Short walk and even shorter drive from a really nice pub and a local shop that seemed to stock pretty much everything.
The site owners were really friendly and helpful. We made a special request in our booking and they emailed back immediately to discuss it and make sure we got what we needed.
Facilities were adequate for what we needed and very clean. There was a lovely picnic area too which was super cute. We loved the recycling bins and focus on being environmentally friendly.

Disliked There wasn't anything to dislike.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Arrived in wind to this lovely little site which has everything you'd need either on site - showers, loos, space, washing up facilities - and realised I'd discovered a little gem of a site. Located on a family farm, which means Louise (or other staff) are around if/when you need them. Great site for solo, couples, family campers and range of units there when I visited so very accessible. Level pitches everywhere.

Disliked Nothing to dislike - although putting the tent up in wind was interesting!

Local attractions

Spotted Breidden Hill from the site? Head over to take a closer look – it’s only about 10 minutes away by car and has a circular walking route to follow. For other walks nearby, take a stroll through Llanymynech Rocks Nature Reserve (10 minutes’ drive) or seek out the waterfall trail to Pistyll Rhaeadr (35 minutes). Lake Vyrnwy (35 minutes) is another fine place for a walk, either taking the lakeside route or following the sculpture trail, and it also has watersports activities including kayaking and windsurfing. And if all of that sounds a bit exhausting, maybe a ride on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway (25 minutes) will suit? For different days out, have a taste of local history with visits to Powis Castle and Garden (20 minutes) and Chirk Castle (half an hour) or board a canal boat to float across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (half an hour). The sculpture trails at the British Ironwork Centre (20 minutes) make for a fascinating outing too.
