  • Off-grid campsite at a peaceful spot in Llanwenog village, Ceredigion
  • A 20-minute drive to the National Wool Museum; 40 minutes to Cardigan
  • Smart, pre-erected bell tent with a camping kitchen and solar shower
Perhaps you fancy time out somewhere snug and cosy all to yourselves in the peace of west Wales? Look no further – Llwyncelyn Bach is an exclusive pitch for two adults (no dogs or kids allowed) in a quiet corner of a family-run smallholding near Llanwenog village in Ceredigion. Neglected for over 25 years, the smallholding now has a fledgling orchard, a re-wilding project in one of the fields, free-ranging poultry and two pygmy goats. Accommodation is in a pre-erected bell tent (hurray – no messing around with tent poles) and please note it’s a fully off-grid camping experience. The tent is equipped with solar lighting, a double bed (bed linen is provided, towels are not), storage and cosy seating, plus outdoor seating and a camping kitchen and cooking area with everything needed to rustle up simple meals. Water can be replenished as and when required. A private camping toilet is provided, with a solar shower bag for use in the pop-up shower tent. Parking is provided on hardstanding about 100m from the tent.

Local attractions

Active, outdoorsy types will be well-pleased to find that golf courses, horse riding, river and sea fishing are all on hand within around 25 minutes’ drive, and you can try out coracles at the National Coracle Centre at Cenarth Falls. For more relaxed pursuits, have an amble along Ceredigion Coast Path (both half an hour), taking in scenic coves and beaches and keeping an eye open for rare birds. History fans can learn all about the Welsh wool industry at the National Wool Museum (20 minutes), which also has a colourful textile gallery, and budding naturalists can follow way-marked walks over Teifi Marshes at the Welsh Wildlife Centre (50 minutes). The market town of Cardigan (40 minutes’ drive) has a fine castle and St Dogmaels Abbey to inspect, and plenty of pubs and cafés as well as a cinema and theatre (all good to ward off any rainy-day blues). You might get lucky and spot Atlantic grey seals or bottle-nosed dolphins in Cardigan Bay too.
