  • Peaceful dog-friendly site with views over Cardigan Bay
  • A 35-minute walk from New Quay; footpath to the Wales Coast Path
  • Shops and pubs in New Quay; playground and dog exercise area on site
Raring to go dolphin-spotting on the Wales Coast Path or fishing on a boat trip from New Quay? Very well – here’s Tyr Ffynnon Farm, an advantageous base for such coastal adventures. With 180-degree views over Cardigan Bay and a location just 35 minutes’ walk from New Quay, it would have been a shame to keep this quiet 38-acre working sheep farm for sheep only. Now, families and dogs (on leads) are welcome to come and relax at the elevated peninsular spot. There are plenty of walking areas away from the traffic – and just a couple of hundred metres from the entrance, there’s a public footpath where guests can join the Wales Coast Path. Spectacular views and the chance to spot dolphins… yes please. The coastal path passes through lively New Quay, where activities such as boat trips, sailing, fishing and watersports are on the agenda. Also called Cei Newydd, New Quay has a pretty harbour, sandy beaches and a sound selection of shops, pubs and restaurants for all your foodie desires. The pièce de resistance at Tyr Ffynnon Farm surely has to be the sublime sea-view sunsets that can be seen from the site. Other ace features include the modern shower and toilet facilities, which have hot electric showers, wash basins, toilets, electric hand dryers and electric sockets for hairdryers (in the ladies’ only) and a shaver point (in the gents’). Those with mini family members will also be pleased to find a playground and a fenced dog exercise area on site. Bonus points – the peaceful, friendly site is 20 minutes’ drive from Aberaeron, 35 minutes from Cardigan and 45 minutes from Aberystwyth.

Liked views were lovely. toilets were clean.

Disliked Travelling in a motorhome as a mature couple. The field is a mix of touring caravans, tents and motorhomes. We were next to a tent with 2 young girls who talked loudly and laughed until 3am in the morning. groups of boys were also loud and walking around in the small hours. The toilet block did not have enough showers and toilets for the amount of people staying at the site.
Dogs were not on leads and were left to walk around. my husband 2 dogs jumping up on him as he was walking past to the toilet block. I have never been to a camping site where dogs were left to roam around.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. I am so pleased that you enjoyed the fantastic views and our clean facilities. With regard to your complaints. We do have strict policies regarding dogs and noise disturbances and ask for dogs to be kept on leads at all times. Each customer is advised of these policies by way of the written information provided on arrival. Unfortunately we are not always aware of such disregard and urge customers to advise us of such incidences at the time rather than after the event via a review, If we had been made aware, then of course we would have dealt with the situation immediately.
Thanks again for staying with us and sorry we did not meet your expectations due to the alleged inconsideration of other campers.

Liked The size of the pitch.
The view.
The welcome.
The peace and quiet after Saturday night.
The dog park.

Disliked Some of the campers were a little loud at times.
Dogs off lead.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and would hope to see you again,
We are so sorry that you experienced dogs off of lead this is most definitely against our policies and should not of happened. Each visitor is given an information sheet on arrival that clearly states that dogs must be kept on leads at all times, clearly this was ignored, probably by just one rogue camper. We do urge customers to alert us to any problems at the time as we do not always spot them-we always respond immediately if we are made aware of an issue.
I do so hope that you will appreciate that this is likely a one off and that it does not deter you from visiting us again in the future.

Liked Absolutley amazing campsite, the views were spectacular over the Irish Sea.
Campsite was clean, kept well and we had a very friendly welcome on arrival. Pitched are very nicely sized and grass is well kept
It even has a park for the kids too

Disliked Not that I disliked this because I completely understand why, but the charge for showers are 20p per 2 mins or £1 for 10 mins. Forgot a few times and had to walk back to my Tent to get money for it.
Would add a squeegee to the showers just so we can clean up after others too especially if they leave grass ect.. from before us. But these are cleaned fairly regularly

From the manager: Thank you for you review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us-the views over Cardigan bay are indeed fantastic!. Will add a squeegee as you have suggested as it is difficult in busy times for us to squeeze in between customers to clean up after them despite doing our best to maintain a strict cleaning routine.
Thanks again for staying with us and do hope to see you again.

Liked This was the second time in one week that we had visited Tyr Ffynnon farm.Yet again we found it to be a lovely site. You will find everything that you need here , and the owners are very hospitable and friendly.
Our second visit was nicer than our first due to the weather being absolutely glorious, this added to the most outstanding sun sets across the bay.

Liked I can’t say enough about the view! I may be young but i have been to a lot of campsites in my time and have never seen such an amazing view! I looked forward to watching the sunset every night and i wasn’t the only one! Many others guest also enjoyed it. Facilities were very clean.
Rubbish is very clearly labelled.
Mobile signal on site (I had no trouble with data)
Never had any problems with any flies or midges.
Clear intrusions about where the campsite is.
Very close to newquay. Lovely village with such beautiful clear water.

Disliked Lovely campsites no doubt about that, however we were slightly too cramped to my liking. Me and my friend were positioned between 2 electric sites so we felt abit cramped and little privacy. However wish we spoke up about it but we aren’t the most confident people.
Near the end of our stay there was lack of toilet paper or bins were full. (Females toilets). Again, we should have said something while on our stay.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and hope to see you again. With regards to your concerns. We are sorry that you were unhappy with your pitch. Having booked a non electric pitch you were upgraded to a front pitch with lovely sea views which we hoped you would enjoy. . Each pitch is 10 metres in size therefore lots of room. We feel that you may have felt cramped as you had the tiniest of tents and had a larger tent and campervan either side of you. This weekend was extremely busy so many apologies if the loo roll ran out we do try to monitor the facilities but sometimes this may happen.
Once again we are so sorry that you were not entirely happy but so pleased that you enjoyed your stay overall.

Local attractions

Days out in Aberaeron (20 minutes’ drive) – a regency town with a Georgian harbour and multi-coloured houses – could be spent taking yet more coastal walks, tucking into tapas and scallops around the harbour or licking a honey-flavoured ice cream by the sea. Strolls or fishing along the river Teifi might make it onto your itinerary in Cardigan (35 minutes). The town’s castle is on the riverside and has its own escape room. Another historical spot is in St Dogmaels (40 minutes), where there are abbey ruins with medieval roots. Aberystwyth (45 minutes) is much more than a university town. It’s also home to the National Library of Wales, a free museum and heaps of interesting shops. Elsewhere along the coast, Penbryn beach (25 minutes) is accessed through woodlands from the Wales Coast Path. A short detour from here will get you to Tresaith Waterfall (25 minutes).
