  • Cardigan Bay and Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve half an hour’s drive
  • Well-equipped kitchen, comfy double bed, private garden with firepit
Secluded luxury combines with far-reaching Teifi Valley views at Caban Teifi in Ceredigion. Its peaceful western Wales surroundings are splendid for watching local wildlife – you can expect to spot bullfinches, gold crests, red kites and woodpeckers flitting around, as well as the occasional fox. The Cambrian Mountains nearby are also home to a small population of elusive red squirrels. But back to the accommodation. Set on a four-acre smallholding on the outskirts of Henllan village, Caban Teifi is a cosy, stylishly kitted-out cabin designed for couples. It has underfloor heating to keep you nice and warm, as well as plenty of hot water in a walk-in shower. As well as a full-size double bed and a small sofa, the cabin has life’s little essentials like a TV, tea- and coffee-making facilities and wifi to keep you connected with the outside world. For the cooks among you, a fridge, electric hob and microwave are part of the package too. The pod sits close to the owners’ house but in a very private position, with seating, a barbecue and firepit in its own small garden area – a lovely spot to chill on warmer days while watching the sunset. The garden is fenced to a minimum of three feet to make it secure for those wanting to bring a dog. Plus, guests have sole use of two one-acre paddocks; one of these is fully fenced and has an agility course for your canine buddy to play on.

Liked: The perfect getaway with stunning views, lovely outdoor space, secure for dogs and spacious surrounding paddocks. Lovely walks from the doorstep. So peaceful the pod is well equipped, exceptionally clean. We had everything we needed for our 3 night stay and it’s great for dogs. Lovely hosts! We can’t wait to stay again. We have had the best time and really switched off, a great place to unwind.

Disliked: Having to leave.

Liked: This is a truly amazing experience, the location and the views are stunning and we never tired of looking at it!! The Cabin has everything you could possibly need with the best shower ever plus it's fully enclosed if you have a furry friend with you. Matt & Liz supply all the essentials such as fire wood for the fire pit and charcoal for the bbq which we used every night while we enjoyed sitting out with a glass of vino chilling...we even saw shooting stars one evening which was amazing!! If you need supplies then Newcastle Emlyn is about a 5 - 10 minute drive and there a 2 tesco supermarkets 30 - 45 mins away if you need them. We really did have a fantastic time here, it was like having your own little piece of paradise, the view& location are unbeatable and the only noise we heard was the wildlife and the odd tractor....bliss! We can't wait to return!!

Disliked: Obviously leaving!!!!

Liked: This was our second stay here. Such a lovely, peaceful location. Cabin has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Liz and Matt, the hosts have done a great job here. This cabin is on its own so you have no one around you to spoil the tranquility. Comfy bed, full kitchen, en-suite shower and WC, TV, WiFi. Upon arrival Liz will meet you and then leave you to enjoy your stay. Tea, coffee and home made Welsh cakes welcome you. Cabin has its own BBQ area that overlooks the countryside. This time around Liz had fenced off the cabin so if you have a dog, which we do then they can wander. Cabin also comes with land that you can walk around. Comes also with parking. It really is a perfect place to stay and close enough to drive in either direction to sight see. Newcastle Emlyn is 8 minutes away for shopping and take away food if you want it. Peace and quiet and relaxing stay

Liked: Cabin was wonderful, snug, Scandinavian feel to it, stunning views, very private, evening with BBQ and firepit, mornings with birdsong. Very peaceful and beautiful. Lovely beach 25 mins away and walks everywhere. Lots of places around the river, stunning waterfalls. One day here felt like we had been away for much longer, so relaxed.

Liked: Another beautiful stay, gorgeous views and peaceful. Liz and matt have thought of everything from the lay out to the little touches and everything looks hand made and made with love. I emailed in advance to ask about local dog friendly pubs and resturants to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and liz recommended the best places, we had a gorgeous meal at the daffodil. when we arrived there was a celebrate card also waiting for us, such a wonderful touch. I could honestly live there.

Local attractions

For a day of surfing and sandcastle-building, you can head to Cardigan Bay (half an hour’s drive), where sheltered beaches like Llangrannog and Penbryn await. If you choose to hit Mwnt beach, be sure to climb the grassy headland to scour the watery horizon for dolphins and other marine wildlife. Birdwatchers should make a beeline for the Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve (half an hour), an area of tidal mudbanks and open pastures where they might see kingfishers, herons and peregrine falcons, plus otters. Guided walks start from the Welsh Wildlife Centre, a modern visitors’ hub with displays on the local wildlife and a café. There is more wildlife at Cors Caron National Nature Reserve (45 minutes), renowned for its three raised peat bogs. You can walk along a boardwalk to a bird hide, or stroll (or cycle) along a disused railway track spotting hen harriers hovering above and skylarks among the reeds.
